With all the coaching openings, Notre Dame may consider naming Marcus Freeman coach in waiting for the 2025 season. Granted a big pay increase of $1,000,000 or so per season, plus a guarantee head coach in waiting gig may not be enough to keep Freeman in South Bend for another 3 years. However, Jack Swarbrick may consider making this move in order to keep coach Freeman at Notre Dame. Marcus Freeman's resume, track record, recruiting prowess, young age and stabilizing the defense over the past 5 weeks are good indicators that he's ready for the right head coaching job. Even Coach Kelly hinted a few weeks ago in an interview that Coach Freeman would make a great hire as the next Head Coach of ND. Anyways, what are your thoughts on such a move or who would be a better hire three years from now?
