He will get at minimum 3 years if not 5. Rees is on a much shorter leash than anyone else on the coaching staff.I really like Marcus and his energy, intelligence, and passion. He’s been thrust into a tough spot being head coach at ND. If ND loses 3/4 more straight games will he be fired? He’d be 0-6 or 0-7

He has been thrust into a tough spot, in that he is not at all qualified for this job, and yet he was given the job anyway. And ND saw fit to hire this unqualified, unfit coach, thus so thrusting him.....
It's a good question, if ND went.... 2-10? Would he still keep the job? Or even midseason, if we were, say, 0-8?
They probably wouldn't fire him midseason in any event, nor is it a foregone conclusion we're going to have a terrible record. But man, the look on his face, in the 4th quarter, when the game had become out of reach.... just couldn't have been any worse. He looked like a scared little boy, straight up. And you honestly felt very sympathetic towards him. But we gotta have a competent coach.
Anyways, hopefully we bounce back vs Cal! And Drew Pyne can lead us forward.....
Yes...ND has silently been negotiating with Scott Frost for this particular situation.I really like Marcus and his energy, intelligence, and passion. He’s been thrust into a tough spot being head coach at ND. If ND loses 3/4 more straight games will he be fired? He’d be 0-6 or 0-7
Not a chance ND fires MF mid season. The howling & usual racial arsonists ( msnbc , cnn, ny times espn , & pick any local chucifritto nyc news station) would pick ND apart. Christ, the feds may even get involved. MF is here 3 years @ least. He’s in over his head.0-6 or 0-7, I doubt he is safe. 4/8, yea he would be ok.
It’s about bowls, boosters, TV and stadium sales. Football is not a place for politics.
Lose to cal and the boosters will start to have meetings. Lose 3 more and those meetings will be with Jack. Lose them all and the Univ will be forced to make a change. They will not put up with no wins in a year hoping it changes.
it’s OK to lose to OSU, Clemson and USC. It might be OK to add BYU in there.
Losing to Marshall, Cal and Navy and he is gone.

ND is not like everyone else. They got raked over the coals for TY firing.Someone up top said he’s gets 3-5, not in todays game with the portal and transfers. You don’t need 3/4 recruiting classes. 2 losing or .500 seasons and can him.
silly question!
I'm an outsider but of course he is. Not even a question at this point

Scot Frost as an OC would be a major upgrade over Tommy deer in the headlights..Yes...ND has silently been negotiating with Scott Frost for this particular situation.
He’s safe even if he goes 0-25. People should chill. ND is Ivy League-like.silly question!
Whatever you say Sparky. Tommy deer in the headlights is very witty. What an imagination you have. 😜Scot Frost as an OC would be a major upgrade over Tommy deer in the headlights..
Nebraska scored 28, 38 and 42 points in their 3 games.. We score that many points we win running away.
That's truth all over it.Scot Frost as an OC would be a major upgrade over Tommy deer in the headlights..

If Tommy isn't fired then Freeman is the problem. It's his product.Freeman is safe for 3 years.. He is not the problem
Tommy should be canned today but probably will get canned at the end of the season.
Rees was retained by Swarbrick, who later named Freeman HC.If Tommy isn't fired then Freeman is the problem. It's his product.
Just like when Brian Van Gorder was running the defense. It wasn't Brian Kelly running the defense but it was hire and ultimately his product.
Rees was retained by Freeman. It's his selection to run the offense.
I’d you’re rebuilding yes. He took over a top 5 talented team and lost to Marshall. There aren’t many coaches that bad. I’m rather confident most experienced high school coaches would’ve beaten Marshall as NDs coach. He is 100% safe this year as it relates to the football team. Now if he violates his contract in another fashion that’s a separate issue.
Any football coach should be given the opportunity to make corrections and improve his program especially a rookie coach. That’s a risk you assume when extending an offer to a rookie regardless of how seem less you believe the transition to be.
I bet he’s safe mid way into year 3 or even year 4.
Easy or obviously correct target?I believe Rees was retained before Freeman got the gig. That said I'm sure Freeman signed off on it. Rees is an easy target right now. Goes with the territory.
My guess is you did not write this the day Scott Frost was hired at Nebraska. Can we just skip ahead to the day we fire people already? This almost always plays out bad and hurts the program more the longer it drags. Scott Frost should’ve never been invited back.
Duh.My guess is you did not write this the day Scott Frost was hired at Nebraska.
Stop looking for a scapegoat. All of those mentioned did well under BK. Balis was known as the best S&C coach in the nation. TR was the hottest up and coming OC in the country. Freeman was best best DC in America. HH was the best OL coach in ND history. The coach that needs fired to date is Harry. I know that is the third rail for here but his line looks Aweful. These are all top recruits. They look slow and soft. Maybe bayless needs fired. Even our TE’s look slow.
When you can’t leak a back out as a safety valve, you can’t get a 4th and 1 and your running game needs most yards to come from your QB I’m not sure TR is my first target. TR missed a few easy screen options to call but he has a limited QB, limited WR’s and a line that waves at people as they fly by.
Fix the line and you fix most of what we are seeing.
I agree 100% with your post that he's going to get longer than he should, but I also feel like he'll get the hook well before his contract is up if this is the trajectory of the program through EOY.I’d you’re rebuilding yes. He took over a top 5 talented team and lost to Marshall. There aren’t many coaches that bad. I’m rather confident most experienced high school coaches would’ve beaten Marshall as NDs coach.
