Is anyone concerned about the brain trust’s ability

To formulate effective game plans ?
Yes. New O coordinator. Can we take advantage of Hartman passing or become one dimensional and conservative ?

My biggest concern of all is the O line. Not a fan of Coogan starting over Schrauth. I think by the NC State game Schrauth will be starting

What has Schrauth done to make you feel like he should be starting over Coogan?

What’s cumulative experience of the entire coaching staff at the offensive coordinator position ?
Not sure but if you think that's an issue ok. I don't. Never saw a game plan in all my years of playing or coaching that was designed to be ineffective.

Maybe not design but poorly implemented
Most likely poor performance. Every play is designed to work if all 11 players win their responsibilities. That's the goal. Now putting your personnel in the best position to do exactly that is the challenge given the opposition and their strengths and weaknesses. It really is a chess match play to play.

That makes sense

With all of your years playing and coaching are you telling us that you never saw or experienced a game plan that was ineffective ?

You’d have to be a total moron to believe that a game plan was “intentionally designed” to be ineffective. What would possess you to make sure an idiotic and uninformed statement ?

If you’ve been tuning into this website, surely you’ve observed posters who have been critical of ND’s game plans

So you believe that coaching is relatively unimportant and that execution is the sole determiner of success ?

What has Schrauth done to make you feel like he should be starting over Coogan?
2 things
1- sources say Schrauth moves people and gets defense on heels
2- he is younger than Coogan and I’d like to see him develop for future and add stability to line for a few years

This is confusing. Perhaps never seen a game plan designed to be ineffective, but how about poorly designed given the strengths and weaknesses of each team? I think this is the concern regarding the inexperience of our OC. Frankly, I’m more concerned about in game adjustments, an area we have not excelled at since Lea was our DC.

I don’t understand the argument. There’s no way on earth that all bad plays are because of bad player execution. Sometimes, it’s a bad play call or game plan that does the damage. Haven’t we ever heard of a staff claiming after a bad game that they wished they had some calls back? This is an absurd take to blame every bad play or approach to game planning on the players. I understand that when drawing up a play or game plan, it hinges on execution, but to claim that it’s always a good play or plan is preposterous. Sounds like what Kelly would say after any bad outing offensively. Blame everyone but themselves. Coaches don’t always put their players in the best position to succeed even if they believe they are. Sometimes game plans and play calls suck.

Holtz’s game plan against # 3 Florida in the 1992 Sugar Bowl was an example of what I believe was an excellent game plan.
