our irish play Stanford again today for the third time in a row in ncaa tournament play as both teams split the last two. a lot of the Stanford players from last years team that beat our irish are playing today and so our irish are going to have to play like they did Friday to come up with a win. if our irish do play like Friday and can get this to be a fast tempo game then I think they'll win. game starts at noon on espn

Even with Turner , Stanford was the one team I didn't want to see in ND's bracket . Wouldn't have minded Mississippi State, Maryland ,UCLA ,etc but not Stanford . Their height is more of a problem than let's say Ohio State , because Stanford has a more talented front line than some of the teams we have played.

I forgot to post. Our nemesis has been UConn . But last year and this , Stanford has and is a problem to get to Final 4 . I know it is a practically impossible task to beat UConn , ,but I like the idea of being in the final 4 possibly playing UConn for the championship .

arike is playing like a former high school and future college all-American as she has been unstoppable in these last two ncaa tournament games. Stanford will adjust at the half but if they can't slow down arike and we keep then from making 3s like they did in the first period then I don't see them coming from behind to win.

Ogunbowale scoring slowed and Mabrey is having an off shooting in 3 rd quarter ,ND only a 2 point lead

give Stanford credit for adjusting at the half but our irish just simply played really bad defense in the 3rd qtr and missed a lot of open shots that they did in the 2nd qtr. arike got shut down in the 3rd and now has to some how be a force in the 4th

Ogunbowale disappeared in 3rd and 4 th quarter and Mabrey's 3 point shot was mostly off .Plus Westbeld I can't figure if her defense was good or fair or what ? .How many rebounds ? The guards again had to do most of the rebounding .

It comes down to a step on throat of opponent and dont let them up mentality...geno preaches it and Skylar had it for us and Muffett doesn't necessarily run it up, she usually slows down pace to burn clock. Sorry full speed ahead, step on throat of opponent and score 100 and/or relentless defensive pressure from tip to end of game. No mercy

They still gave it their all . Hindsight is always great, but after watching the men's NCAAs , a lot of the games came down to the wire and teams lost because of miscues ,turnovers ,bad defense at the end . Have to move on .Hope Turner returns to form

Surprising stats .point guard Lindsay Allen had 10 rebounds . Also Stanford had a more fluid offense .Their players had 22 assists while ND was credited with only 11

Irish only had to guard three Stanford players closely and they didn't do it---turnovers and free throws improved but defense remains their weakness---too many wide open Stanford shots.
