USC will attempt to run run run - ND will have to prove they can stop the run. Most figure SC's passing attack and those 5* WR's will be the problem. SC will attack between the T's.
Do you seriously think you know our players better than the coaches? The coaches are with them all week. I trust they know more. If NM was better, he'd be playing
Perse. I agree, although they run a great tailback sweep, like USC of old, and we will see our share of this until we stop them. Schmidt has had consecutive poor games, and he does look slow as the OP states, and he missed a ton of tackles. Just not playing at the same level as pre injury. Hope some of our younger faster more athletic guys see more and more play. Was really happy for Grace getting on the field and making some plays in the second half.
Give me a break. How many examples do you want of Kelly not playing the right guy? If Folston had not gotten hurt, Prosise would be riding the bench. They wouldn't have bothered changing formation or positions to get him on the field. Do I feel like I know better than Kelly? Darn right I do. Two years ago, he put the entire team's success on the shoulders of a QB who didn't even have the physical skills to play Div I. when he had talent and experience at every other offensive position. Now he's doing the same with the defense and the middle linebacker position.
BVG seems like a loyal guy. Was it BK that pulled Schmidt? Coney & Nyles had nice plays......did they deserve more snaps? ALOT of missed tackles by LB's today.......GET BETTER!!!
just started paying attention ? prosise was moved to running back in the spring. you most certainly don't know the personnel better and based on your post you don't know anything about notre dame football. you insinuate the coaching staff is not doing its best.
coney came in when martini got banged up. grace for onawalu. don't think Schmitt got pulled. he struggled in space yesterday.
I guess you don't watch the games because if you did and paid attention you would see that teams can pound the Def up the middle with those two inside backers. Have you noticed how slow they are to get to the ball? Have you noticed that if they are in position that they miss numerous tackles. Have you noticed they continually get knocked off the ball. I don't have to be a coach, I watch every week and see the same stuff. I can't believe there are not better LB's than these two. They remind me of Fox and Calabreese in 2013
either way . The bottom line is the coaching staff does not look good . IF Schmidt is the best ND has at LB then it says little for there recruiting and development of Morgan. Our reactions are based on watching the Schmidt miss tackles and get blocked over and over again. I think everyone loves Joe Schmidt and is pulling hard for him to get better but he might have hit his ceiling as a player. I saw Coney come in and make a play in the backfield . He was shot out of a cannon. Heck these guys have already burned a year of eligibility . Play them . I have seen very little this season from Onuwalu and Schmidt. IMO Smith could have moved to Onulwalu position and Coney should have been playing from day 1. IK that I do not coach and see what goes on but something tells me Coney is a tackle machine.
