Injuries

Mills
Young
Spindler

Am I missing anyone?

Anyone got updates?

They had a camera in the locker room after the game (at the top of the stairs where the "PLACT" sign is located) and I saw Bryce Young come up the stairs with no obvious difficulty. That suggests to me he isn't badly injured.

After the game on the ESPN show Scott Van Pelt specifically asked MF about Rylie Mills injury. MF didn't provide any detail but said he is optimistic that Mills' injury isn't "seaason ending." Watching the replay of the play where RM got hurt it looked to me like Rylie might have swung around and hyperextended his knee on Jaylen Sneed's leg as he was sacking Rourke. If no serious ligament damage is involved, hyperextensions can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to heal. So I am not sure Rylie will be available for UGA, or if he is, whether he will be full go. That would be a potentially significant loss, as we need in him there against UGA's huge OL.

I didn't see the play where Spindler got hurt, so I don't know much about it.

Jeremiyah Love didn't seem to be a full go--except on his 98y TD run! I read later he was "sick" for the game; I wonder if he was dealing with a cold or flu bug. Hopefully he will be good to go for the Sugar Bowl.

One of the unintended consequences of this new 12-team playoff format is that injuries can start to mount and impact a team's chances. When you have to win 4 games to be the champion, and you are playing really good teams where there is likely to be some spirited play, the odds of an important player getting injured go up.

Too many games now - kids are going to pay the price.

12 days between games is pretty optimal and may be better than the 24 days Georgia gets. It seems like we should be mostly ok. Coach said there is optimism on Mills. Love has some more time. Jagasah(sp) coming along. Young seems good. Plus another game under our belts. I believe Indiana's last two scores probably a blessing in disguise as team will understand need to improve.

Young and Spindler were walking pretty well after the game. Didn't see anything noticeable or too bad. Think both will be okay and we really need them to be

Mills damn it man that sucks. He was wearing a brace after and had a limp. He is so important we need him to play.

Cross had a big thing on his ankle or heavily taped during the game. He really didn't do much and didn't look like himself

Traore, Botelho, Onye out vs Georgia. Cross and Young possibly compromised. Mills is questionable at best. Can we hold up.....

I think the answer is a pretty obvious "no." You can't lose 7 or 8 of your top 16-17 players on defense and make it through the gauntlet of a four-game playoff run.

I dont understand the Mills injury. He was mostly in the air when his body was spinning around. I watched the play multiple times.

I would have to watch the replay again, but from what I saw last night of the play Riley's knee hit Sneed's leg and stopped, but the spinning rotation of his body caused the lower half of his leg to keep moving in the direction of the spin, causing the probable hyperextension of his knee.

That said, I am not a doctor or a sports kinesiologist, so I guess we will have to wait to find out more.
