In the most recent NCAA statistic I could find on graduation rates for football players, the University of Georgia’s GSR was 47

The University of Notre Dame’s GSR was more than double at 96

Feel free to draw your own conclusions

Yes. Staggering contrast. Actually the one released on 11-20 has ND at 99

Whats even more staggering is that during the Charlie Weis era, where notre dame was recruiting top 5 classes/firmly in the tier 1 of talent acquisition in football, they had an even higher 99% graduation success rate among their football players.

What changed?

How did GSR go down while recruiting/talent acquisition got worse?

It didn’t go down. Stop lying.

Weis recruiting was lopsided and his F+ wasn’t even top 20

after Willingham, it was quite common to hear that Notre Dame would never get the great talent anymore. Charlie did recruit five stars to Notre Dame. So he accomplished that.

IF a school does support the football program and gets a top coach or close to it, they can recruit the best.

But in the end it comes down to the HC.

As regards graduation rate, I bet those that have NO problem with all the garbage happening now with the portal and Nil and everything else will also whine about ND and its graduation rate being MEANINGLESS.

That is low for Georgia, which is a respected school. Surprises me.

Charlie Weis probably had the best football credentials of any head coach ever hired by Notre Dame.

If you played offense, playing at Notre Dame under Charlie Weiss seemed like a fast track to the NFL

It will be interesting to see if Bill Belichick has the same effect on North Carolina’s recruiting

Charlie Weis was a failure at ND. Player development was poor and the culture was soft. The more players that he recruited were on the team they worse they got. He had his best years with Willingham recruits. No one ever did less for more.

Best credentials ? Wow that's dumb. Zero head coaching experience, parlayed coaching for Belichick into a job he was woefully unqualified for. The proof is in the pudding. As a college football coach he was an abject failure at two schools. Amazing Kansas was that dumb.

That wasn’t the issue, recruiting was the issue, try to stay on topic

What’s dumb is you ignoring Charlie Weis’s four Super Bowl rings

What’s dumb as you’re ignoring Charlie Weiss as the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots

Those are incredibly impressive credentials, especially for a kid who wants a path to the NFL

Hence, he was a good recruiter

And recruiting is topic of discussion

Try to stay on topic

Not great credentials for a college coach. Different animal. Those " credentials " you allude to certainly did him no good at the collegiate level. What good is being able to recruit players but not have the ability to develop them ? Lots of coaches in New England had multiple Super Bowl rings and few if any of them found success once they left New England. How do you explain the fact that when the roster consisted mostly of players he recruited the worse the team was ? He was bad, period. Let's not forget the fact that despite all those great credentials you claim he had he was NDs fifth or sixth choice for the position. Hardly a positive endorsement. The number of SB rings is 3 not 4.

I Didn’t think you could be that dumb, but you’ve proved me wrong

This isn’t about whether or not he was a successful head coach. It’s about whether or not he was a successful recruiter.

Have someone explain that to you?

His credentials were almost impeccable

But it’s good to see that you’re still are capable of 20-20 hindsight

Notre Dame players are expected to go to class and get a degree. At most schools this is optional.

I remember, but never believed it
