I can't say Bama is going to have a bad year or that Nick is finally waning. I don't know enough about them. But if they think TB is potentially an upgrade, they are going from very very good at qb to not so great. I really like TB and hoped he would find a place where he would succeed but he is a known quantity at this point, and Tuscaloosa could be rough place for him. If he plays my heart will root for him but my wallet will fade Bammer this year.

Why wouldn't you place Alabama in the top 5? I would. They've earned every ounce of respect ESPN gives Alabama. It's arguably the best program in CFB.

I know that if the position was reversed **ND takes a qb transfer, stellar recruit but lost his starting job and flopped in the Bama spring game** every one of the critics would be equally furious. ND is relying on SEC castoffs because we can't get the top talent, hide from falling skies!
A&M is a shit show, Tenn was one and done, LSU, has Kelly 😂 who will find a way to lose a couple of games, that leaves UGA.

Alabama's roster is the reason they are top 5. Saban does not need to kill it at quarterback...though he normally does. He has the ability to compensate for whatever weaknesses are there, until he is satisfied with the quarterback. He starts the season with Middle Tenn State. So I am sure that somewhere in those 55 points his team puts up....he will get a clearer picture of who his guy is. But the 21 other positions on the field gives him plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
Correct. UGA won back to back titles with a 3 star walk on at QB. when you have as much talent as Bama and UGA, you don't need an elite QB. The talent surrounding the QB can cover up any deficiencies the QB may have.
Because Alabama could easily have 2 losses this year, not make the CFP, still finish right around top 5 and it would be a bad year for them

Also look at SC. They have THE 5 star QB. Won 11 games with a JV defense
At Bama you don’t. At ND you do. We shouldn’t even be mentioning the word title unless we start getting recruits like Justin Scott and Elijah Rushing on a yearly basis.
We’d be in a more realistic conversation if we had landed Keely, Moore, and Bowen. And followed that with Carr, Williams, Scott, and Rushing.
This team can make the playoffs. Winning it will take changes with the admin.
The admin just wants us in the 12 team playoff every now and then. Titles matter little to them. They measure success based on ticket sales and merchandise sold. ND never needed to bend academics more than they already have, which is substantial. They simply needed to allow the NIL machine to work. Michigan and Ohio State have now figured it out. ND is the lone holdout. ND will continue to play hardball and suffer the consequences of their made up virtue signaling.

I would infer a bad year for Bama because of Rees.
Unfortunately for Buchner, he will have the same offensive coordinator he's had at Notre Dame. With his propensity for turnovers, having an offensive coordinator who was a turnover machine during his playing days is not a good match.
I'm finding some humor here.....not pointing fingers. But seriously....in 16 years at Bama...Nick Saban has had 8 offensive coordinators...and look at his record: 189-27 at Bama. I didn't bother to count the Nattys. So....every other year, on average, Saban has changed his O coordinator....with that record? I don't think he's wringing his hands.
That would be a disaster for them. They haven't had 4 losses since saban's first year, and 3 only once after that.
If buchner is starting QB vs Texas i'd be shocked if them go 11-1 or better if he's QB all season. The only reason I think they possibly could is their schedule has almost all their tough games at home.
There are 2 teams with question marks at key positions. Alabama at QB and OSU at DB - actually OSU's defense. If those teams figure it out - and both have depth - don't be surprised to see them in the NC game.
