Okay, so hear me out.

Each team plays a 12 game regular season; 3 games in division, 6 games vs the 32 team field and 3 games outside the 32 team field (no non-FBS schools).

So ND's schedule would look something like this...
Michigan
Penn State
Stanford
USC
Michigan State
Miami
Iowa
Navy*
Wake Forest*
Ohio State
Tennessee
BYU*
*
teams outside the 32 team field

The top 2 teams from each division makes the 16 team playoff. The winner of each division gets home field in the first round.

2nd round is an 8 team playoff (Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Citrus Bowl )

3rd round is the final 4 (Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl)

Championship game (Cowboy Stadium)

All the bowl game destinations can rotate like they do now.

So when it's all said and done all 32 teams will play 12 games, 16 of the 32 teams will play 13 games, 8 of the 32 teams will play 14 games, 4 of the 32 teams will play 15 games and only 2 of the 32 teams will play 16 games.

Sorry to those teams who didn't make it to the field of 32, most of you guys are basketball schools anyway.

Obviously I was bored at work today...
