that if a family member is given employ, then there is a 2 year blackout for recruiting within that family.

Why is it so damed hard for the NCAA to govern with common sense? Every problem has a solution.

You have 2 things wrong in your statement -- NCAA to govern -- and the use of common sense....

For better or worse, the NCAA has very little power. The 128(?) or so member schools keep it that way.

Hardballs will was hired to win at all costs - Fab 5 style stuff going on is ok for the Men of Michigan.

At the time Bryce Drew was a highly sought basketball recruit out of Valpo HS in Indiana. ND and Valpo University were his final choices. Bryce chose Valpo. Valpo was coached at the time by his dad , Homer Drew. I always thought there was something not right by any kid who was recruited by his dad. Are the recruiting laws still enforced? Black out period which would be impossible to enforce. What about vacation trips and cars? Just a dad buying his kid a nice car to get around town and a family vaca to the Bahamas. In the case of Bryce. Playing at ND in the Big East or in half full small arenas in whatever mid major conference Valpo belonged to back then.

If you want to talk common sense: A football coach that hires people only to try to land a recruit is destined to fail because at some point he will surround himself with people incapable of doing their jobs.

Harbaugh is hiring highly successful HS coaches (as analysts with a chance to move up) that have won championships in the highest divisions in states where some of the best football is played (and half of them have not been tied to a specific recruit). These are all up and coming football minds that reached the pinnacle of their past situation and were ready for a new challenge. It's actually a pretty brilliant move on his part imo...they bring skills, experience and connections to what is essentially an entry level college coaching job.

Now if you want to say that some wouldn't have gotten a job at Michigan without having recruits then you would be correct. But that is because they likely never would have met Harbaugh in the first place and had a chance to impress him...landing a specific kid, because of it, in that cycle is the icing on the cake but not the reason...they get hired because of their knowledge of both football and the state (overall) where they are from.

P.S...before you bring up our "football mom"...she was organizing 7on7s in FLA at the time, her son had already been successfully recruited by Harbaugh when he was at Stanford (without him offering her a job)...and he only really played special teams in his one year anyway...but most importantly...she's been one of the best administrative hires he's made...kids and parents rave about her on how she is able to help guide them through the process.

I played AAU back in the day with Bryce. I wasn't his friend or anything close like that, but I knew him well enough to know he always was going to Valpo. Homer was the reason he took visits elsewhere because he wanted Bryce to have the best opportunities.
Usually in case of families, it isn't what people think, it's the exact opposite. The parents want whats's best for their kid, not what's best for themselves as coaches.
I think a parent who is a coach plays a vital role in the kid's recruiting. If people are so worried about 16 year olds choosing a school because you are a fan, & not wanting their dad involved who is a coach, get a grip.

The Drew family is top notch. All class. With that said, not all Dad / HC's are alike. All fans want that elite 18 year old to commit to their favorite school. No harm in that. That's why NSD has become a major sports holiday. Trashing the kid if he goes elsewhere is where a problem arises.

answere this! why do only relatives of 4/5 star prospects get considered for employ? how many applicants were given consideration? Per TOS, Mora has offered employ to Baron Browning's brother. Is it a coincidence he is brother to an elite prospect?
If you answer yes, I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn!
