Brownsburg head coach Brett Comer has advised Johnson to stay patient with the process.
“He’s a kid that has a lot going on,” Comer said. “He has the means to make a lot of visits, which is really great, but it’s helped cloud it even more. There are days that it seems like he’s really close and he’s talking about one school being No. 1 and then two weeks later, they’re gone. There are a lot of variables involved and there are some things that he’s worried about. For example, some of those places the offensive coordinator is a rising star. If you fall in love with an offensive coordinator that’s a quarterbacks coach… well, (Johnson’s) still two year’s out. He’s going to play here for two more years before he goes anywhere. So, my best advice to him has been pick the school for the school because those guys could be gone very easily.”
Johnson’s season opener is on Aug. 21 when Brownsburg hosts Pike.
