Lou,
Seems as if this board led by its moderators is on the verge of asking Jack S to cancel the seasons beyond 2015 due to a dearth of players. Other boards seem to be in the same mode. Our efforts are not organized, our coaches are disinterested, our back office doesn't have a clue and the head coach needs to be winning at the 100% level if we are ever going to overcome all the above. I've walked out of the stadium at ND listening to fans cursing Holtz and Willingham and Weis. I remember my dad's buddies upset at Leahy for a tie, so fan concern isn't a new experience with me. Willingham and Weis deserved a good amount of criticism for on and off field coaching/recruiting efforts/outcomes. I know Charley was an all-in recruiter with poor player development. Now it seems as if we can do no good and the boards are offering up snowfall from August till May for ND's recruiting now thru signing day.
My question is as above. From your perspective as a guy who has lived ND football from youth till now, while not a recruiting guru, you are certainly familiar with how it works, are we doomed? Is it time to fire the staff and hire Ivins, Driscoll, Loy, Wilfong, et al?
I understand it is Kelly's fault that all the Catholic school kids don't want to attend ND and that they all can't see the value of studying 3 hours or more per evening etc.
I'm a Texas transplant and UT can't recruit a QB and TCU wins without an array of 4-5 star players so ND should get any body they want from all over the USA but our guys are just outworked and out thought.
Is all this a prelude to the next series of drum beats demanding another change of coaches Lou?
As the succesor to Joe Doyle and the historian and seer for ND sports, watcha think?
