Just wanted to follow up on a report that Notre Dame is working on trying to get Austin (Texas) St. Stephens Episcopal five-star center Jarrett Allen on campus for the Sept. 5 weekend against Texas. It's true, but no one - including Notre Dame and other program's staffs - can barely get a hold of the kid.
As I posted in my "What I'm Hearing" thread a while back (link), I would describe Allen as pretty much "aloof" when it comes to stuff like the recruiting process. He doesn't seem to like it much, just wants to play ball and spend his free time on hobbies.
Which that's fine. So you would think a kid like that - who could be a NBA lottery pick in a couple years - would then just pass stuff off to a parent, coach or handler. But Allen doesn't seem to have done that. You would also think a kid like that would just hurry it up and get the recruiting process over with - but he doesn't seem to be doing that either, seems to be in no rush.
So. Very, very weird recruitment for a kid who's likely going to be a millionaire in a matter of a couple years. Notre Dame will keep trying - as will many other schools.
