HKY: Notre Dame sweeps Ohio State, shutout Buckeyes in Saturday victory

After tying in both games of its series against Penn State, Notre Dame's hockey team (6-3-2) swept Ohio State (3-5-3) inside Compton Family Ice Arena on Friday and Saturday..

In Friday's win, the Irish jumped out to a 4-0 lead after goals from junior forward Tyler Carpenter, junior forward Justin Janicke, senior forward Landon Slaggert and senior forward Grant Silianoff. Junior forward Hunter Strand, freshman forward Brennan Ali and graduate student defenseman Ryan Siedem were each credited with multiple assists.

In the second matchup, Notre Dame shutout the Buckeyes. The Irish scored once in all three periods — graduate student forward Patrick Moynihan scored two goals while freshman forward Cole Knuble was responsible for scoring Notre Dame's third point. Kunble's goal was the first of his college career.

Goalkeeper Ryan Bischel stopped 27 shots for the Irish in Sunday’s victory. He was credited with 34 saves on Saturday.

Notre Dame returns to action at Minnesota (5-3-1). Nov. 17-18. The Gophers are currently trailing Michigan 2-1 in the third period.
