FRIDAY

Wisconsin required a game-winning goal in the third period to beat Notre Dame 2-1 on Friday night.
Both teams scored in the second period with Owen Lindmark putting the Badgers on the board first 12:40 into the second period. Notre Dame tied it up with 35 seconds remaining in the period on a short-handed goal by Hunter Strand.
Wisconsin's Charlie Stramel put home the game-winner on a power play at 8:02 into the third period.

Wisconsin goaltender Kyle McClellan saved 33 shots on Friday. Notre Dame's Ryan Bischel saved 27.

SATURDAY

Wisconsin looked to be on its way to a rout on Saturday night with a 5-1 lead early in the second period, but Notre Dame cut the lead down to just one goal before the second period ended. However, Wisconsin tacked on two goals in the third period for a 7-4 win.

Wisconsin scored four goals on 15 shots in the first period with Mathiwu De St. Phalle scoring twice. Carter Slaggert's even-strength goal 12:23 into the period allowed Notre Dame to show some signs of life and prevented the Badgers from scoring five-straight goals.

After Wisconsin went up 5-1 just 3:38 into the second period, Notre Dame's rally included a power-play goal by Maddox Fleming and even-strength goals by Landon Slaggert and Brennan Ali. But the Irish couldn't muster up any more offense.

Notre Dame rode with goalie Ryan Bischel through the whole game despite giving up six goals on 32 shots. Wisconsin's final goal came in an empty net.

The Badgers pulled starting goalie Kyle McClellan after Notre Dame cut the lead to 5-4 in the second period. He allowed four goals on 22 shots. William Gramme did great work in his place by not allowing a goal and saving 23 shots.

Box score: Wisconsin 7, Notre Dame 4

Wisconsin (18-4-0, 10-2-0 Big Ten) jumped up to No. 3 in Monday's USCHO poll after the two wins at Notre Dame. The last appearance for the Irish (10-10-2, 4-6-2) in the top 20 of that poll came in the Dec. 4 release.

Notre Dame will continue Big Ten play with a two-game series at Ohio State (8-8-4, 0-8-2) on Friday and Saturday.
