Hicks

Did he officially decommitt? The article I read said ND was forced to cut ties because he took other visits. Is it our policy to stop recruiting any player that ever takes another visit?

According to this tweet, yes, he has decommitted or at least was given his walking papers by ND staff after flirting with other schools and cutting off communication.

ND is NOT in position to be playing the 'tough line' policy.

Adebo and Hicks were no surprise; weeks ago I named them as likely defectors.

So, what does the DB recruiting look like as of now?

The overall defensive recruiting?

The upside is, aside from Ewell, there doesn't seem to be anyone else on the fence. That is until Saban, Harbaugh and Meyer try to get into Lugg's head, if that is possible.

I agree man that it would be an absurd policy. My apologies as I don't follow recruiting outside of hearing who commits, decommits, and who signs. I hope the new additions to the staff start making a difference soon. This class is getting low on numbers and depth.

I've read this was in fact initiated by ND, and the reason is not football related. Hope this is academic related and not character, but regardless, ND decided to part ways with Hicks, a recruit who plays a position of need.

Hicks is irrelevant. We need a top of the line nose guard and outside linebacker. I hope we dont take bodies to fill the spots. I say if we cant get top athletes then save the spots for next year.

Perspective. We don't know specifics, but no one flips to a program that just fired their head coach, unless that athlete has a longstanding love for the university. Cal was hardly Hicks dream school, so I think the reports that ND initiated this will prove accurate. Not a flip and not a decommit; he was cut loose.

I think he was flirting w/UCLA for a time; he may just have wanted W.C.

looks like the class will be populated with plan C prospects who are able to be flipped from other mid level programs; that will just further put ND outside the Top 15. Did J Swarbrick see this coming and is this something that has overall University acceptance?

How is NBC going to fill sponsor spots televising games that are either non competitive or games that are of no interest? When that bottom falls out, look for ND to join a conference to recoup some of the cash shortfall. That will be Swarbrick final dagger in Irish tradition.

As I have stated before, why even bother recruiting any kid who doesn't love ND? it's a waste if time. Besides this happens every year and every year they manage to sign a class. My guess is on February 1st they will sign another class. For those players who do sign with ND, congrats and welcome.

We are down to 15 recruits - as a bona fide Ivy League future member - we are not supposed to be offering scholarships any ways. When ND finnally joins the Ivy league where they belong - then the overall scholarship players will be much lower that the standard 85.

Is Elko the H.C.in waiting?

I wonder who is pulling the strings on some of these decisions. Maybe ND went with the "just stand there and shut up' route rather than a payout/buyout?

This seems to indicate that Elko was not a Hicks fan. Because we don't drop kids who take other visits. Hopefully Elko has a line on kids to replace our departed DBs from this class.

Better get the Academics up to Ivy League standard.

Man, I hope we don't run into another Diaco recruiting situation where we end up with nobody because a players physical measurements didn't fit Diaco's specs. Hicks may not be ideal but certainly better than what we have.

I know you have said this in the past but he immediately committed to Cal?

He committed to Cal---who currently doesn't have a head coach. That should tell you a lot about the circumstances of his "decommiting" from ND.

I guess No HC is better than a ND HC to him?

time to dumpster dive some offers out. Go for 2 and 3 star projects with high ceilings.
