Heisman Trophy To Jayden Daniels.

He deserved the award. LSU had the #1 offense in the country and JD was a dominant dual threat QB. Just a smooth and devastating runner.

Kelly & Denbrock did a phenomenal job with the kid this year.

The year Lamar Jackson won the Heisman Trophy Louisville was 9-4 and had a bad defense. Heisman voters were smart enough to recognize this is an individual award, not a team award and Jayden Daniels doesn’t play defense.

Jayden Daniels was the best college football player, and the best QB, on the #1 offense in the nation. Well deserved Heisman.

Kelly and Denbrock did a phenomenal job with this kid for 2 years. Jayden Daniels was average at Arizona St.

Not only did they have the number one offense in the country, but it was also one of the 10 best offenses of the last 20 years by a conservative estimate and probably top five. The defense was so hilariously bad that Jaden Daniels had to basically score on every possession for them to have the season that they did, and he actually wound up doing it, often with third down monster runs that extended drives.

What was most impressive about his ascension was how much better he got at reading defenses and going to a second and third options. He was terrible at this at Arizona State and he was actually a very slow decision-maker which is why he got sacked so often and actually had those same sack problems at LSU as well.

I’d be surprised if people didn’t start looking at Denbrock as a possible head coach someplace.

Absolutely — he was even a hesitant runner at ASU, and was always a half second too slow to take off. He still has issues taking sacks, but the amount of improvement he’s had reading defenses, and being a quarterback has been astonishing really.
Is that sarcasm?
I don’t know about quarterback whisperer, but he got a lot out of untalented quarterbacks at Notre Dame, and now was a head coach at the helm of LSU that saw one of the greatest improvements of any quarterback over a two year period ever.
Agree. He was the only one undefeated, his team beat Nix and Oregon twice. LSU 3 loses, no!
So what? Was Daniels responsible for those losses? You could say he didn’t play well enough against Florida State, and have a point there, although there were some mistakes that were made early in that game that would’ve likely turned around that entire game and they weren’t all his fault; they lost to Mississippi while scoring 50 and moving the ball up and down the field while the LSU defense could not get a single stop. Then the other loss was to Alabama, but LSU and Daniels were actually winning the game while Daniels was in there, and he had ripped off a long run, and then there was an iffy holding call that brought that run back, a run that would’ve capped off something like four straight touchdown drives.

So the 10 yrs at ND all he could get is untalented QBs?

I thought Penix would win it after UW beat Oregon in the PAC12 championship game, but Jayden Daniels is an absolutely worthy winner of the Heisman. I happened to watch a good bit of the LSU/Florida game back in November, and Daniels put on one of the most impressive single game performances I have ever seen in many years of watching CFB. He had 3 TDS/372 yards passing on only 26 passes, and added another 234 yards rushing and 2 TDs on only 12 carries. I suspect that game may have won him the Heisman. It was like video game stuff. On a couple of runs he made the Florida defenders look like they were running in concrete. After seeing him in the opening game loss to FSU I didn't see that coming. He really turned it around and had a great season.

I suppose it says something about the nature of today's game that the top 3 vote getters (Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix and Bo Nix) all started their college careers with different teams, and found success only after they transferred somewhere else.

Penix followed DeBoar (very smart move) Daniel’s and Nix, bailed on Herman Edward’s and Gus “The Bus” Malzahn.

One was a past his prime NFL coach, and the other was a former HS coach, running Spread Wing T offensive system that everyone has caught up to.

All 3 massively improved at their new spots and finished 1,2 and 3 in the Heisman this year. Coaching matters.

Daniels wasn't in the program long enough for Kelly to ruin him. Kelly still hasn't won sh1t and if he doesn't next year, he'll for sure be in the hot seat and go the way of Jimbo Fisher
Jayden Daniels went from an average at best QB at Arizona State, to a Heisman Trophy winner at LSU. OC Mike Denbrock and Brian Kelly both deserve credit for Daniels two years in Baton Rouge.

With all the bemoaning and aching for older, purer times, the success that these three, all of whom will be drafted by the NFL, speaks to why the transfer portal is a good thing in many ways. In the old system, you could have a player who is talented but things don’t go exactly right in a hyper competitive environment and the player gets stuck in the doghouse, doesn’t develop, and then never realizes his potential. Yes, they were able to transfer, but the penalty for doing so was quite severe, i.e., sitting out a year.

Bo Nix was never thought of as a strong NFL candidate. Jayden Daniels was never thought of an NFL quarterback. Michael pennix had hope, but not as a top 10 nfl draft pick. It makes me think about all the players who have played in the past who might’ve had different outcomes if they were allowed a change of scenery for whatever reasons.

It’s also a boon for players who are destined to be recruited over and stuck behind other players for reasons not always under their control.

He was under them for two seasons, in which he did nothing other than develop in every single facet as a quarterback. Before he got to LSU, he could not read defenses, he could not go to second and third receivers, he was inaccurate, and he was slow in recognizing when he had a opportunity to run and took sacks of all kinds.

The problem with your posts regarding Kelly is that you begin with the conclusion and then think of ways to justify it. Your conclusion is always “Brian Kelly bad,” which then leads you to find every single reason to try to get to that conclusion. Here you have a quarterback that has improved more in two years than just just about any quarterback we have seen, but somehow you want to say “He wasn’t there long enough for Brian Kelly to ruin him.” it’s logically ridiculous.

Brian Kelly wasn’t perfect but to give him and Denbrock anything other than credit for creating one of the best offenses of the past 20 years and getting a quarterback to perform as well as anyone has when taking into account passing and running, is intellectually, dishonest and disingenuous.

What is the percentage of players who will reap from this boon from a business point of view?

9-3 is not great sorry.

I think it says more about Daniels than Kelly. I saw several LSU games. I was thinking if ND had a QB like that , how good would they have been. He really has a lot of talent. Things you can’t coach , he has. Seems like a level headed kid as well. He has all the tools to be a success in the NFL.

Daniels also went from a much less talented team around him to a massive upgrade in talent, and yet BK still could only muster 9 wins. Imagine what LSU's record would have been without Daniels. 😂

Too bad for BK he's losing him .
