.. I thought this kid was going to be our's to lose. :(

They have Cage's little bro and now Garrett.

Long time till signing day.
Yea I know but ND has always struggled to recruit elite DT and this year having Cage and Haskell both go to O$U sucks. I don't fancy our chance (or anyone for that matter) when it comes to Urban Liar.

ND needs to find a defensive coordinator that kids can identify with like Diaco again. BVG is a horrible recruiter. People complain about his defense being to difficult to grasp, but his inability to close on big time talent is killing ND. It doesnt make sense to lose kids like the McCollough kid from Texas who is going to a team whose coach will not be there in 2 years. He may have never came to ND anyway, but ND shouldn't be so hard to sell to kids. Every game is a highly publicized event. There has to be a young defensive mind out there similar to Sanford somewhere.

Lighten up Francis. 50 plus weeks till signing day.

ND can recruit with OSU at a lot of positions, but this is Urban Meyer, who just beat Brian Kelly convincingly and is about to put his whole DL in the NFL, including the likely 1st overall pick in Joey Bosa... Oh yeah, they also won a Natty two years ago. Hard to blame Garrett for wanting to play on that team.

Alabama and Ohio State have the two best football coaches in the country and neither institution has any measures in place that handicap the football program for the sake of academics (to each, their own).

Good luck in Buckeye land Haskell!

Yeah, I think most can see the appeal of going to OSU or Bama. What's most disappointing about Garrett and Cage going to OSU is that it seems every year ND has very limited pool of quality DTs to recruit. Those were 2 high ranked DTs that according to reports had legitimate interest at one point, obviously qualify for ND admission, and were willing to go to a school in the Midwest. If ND lost their #1 recruit they wanted at WR to OSU, while it'd still be disappointing, there tends to be a wider pool of high quality WRs to recruit in comparison to DT. Not to mention, DT is a huge need in this class.

Too many ND fans like to dismiss winning consistently and winning big bowl games. IMO, getting embarrassed by O$U in the Fiesta Bowl did some damage to ND recruiting.

I said it before the bowl game, that this was an enormous opportunity for ND to show they could compete with elite teams. ND didn't necessarily need to win but they needed to compete. You can go into a kids house and tell him he's the missing piece to the championship puzzle if you lose by 7 to O$U. It's hard to make that argument when the game is over by halftime.

Unless the rules have changed they are not at OSU yet. Over 350 days until signing day, we flipped 7 players from other places this year, and didn't lose one for the first time in decades. There is always a chance. Don't start curling up in the fetal position yet.

So much for this kid loving ND and being a heavy lean. Screw 50 weeks till signing day. This kid went OSU. Clearly he did not love ND like many thought

van gorder has less personality than a potato.

an insider named loy is the one that got me and other irish fans excited last year by talking about this kid being a heavy irish lean and our irish being his dream school but then just recently another insider interviewed Haskell and he told the interviewer that the buckeyes were his school. can we blame loy for false info lol

Once the Irish win the National Championship next January the recruits will jump on the Irish bandwagon.

Just as Hitler and Stalin lost their power so too will Saban and Meyer. Good will prevail over evil again.

Go Irish !
Beat Texas !
