I sure hope ND can run it in the 2nd half. Thank god for special teams and Al Golden so far

Better question is has there ever been a worse year to have a not very great QB. The answer is probably no. We could be undefeated with this team if we had a Bryce Young behind center.

Obviously you are all too young to remember the QBs that Ara had that weren't named Huarte, Hanratty, Theismann or Clements...

You want worse? How about (with all due respect), Bill Zloch...35% completion for about 600 yards. Cliff Brown...50% completion for 700 yards...these are full season (10 game) stats...

So, yeah...there's been WAY worse...

Bowen needs to get in Arnold’s ear. I mean, come on. Are you crazy? You have HH OL. Open room. Dude ☘️☘️

Feel bad for MF but, he just kicked Dabo's ass w/ a high school QB so once all the remaining stench from BK is gone and his guys are in is when hopefully we look like a NC team. Great win tonight for MF period!!!

A few more for the list Rick Slager (Devine), Carlye Holiday (Davie), Nate Montana (Kelly), Dayne Crist (Kelly), Demetrius Jones (Weis).......

Freeman & Reese put Pyne in a position "to not lose the game" vs asking him to win it. You can do that when you play smash mouth football with two or three TEs - over 260 yards rushing and max protection for QB on play action, plus control the clock.

I gotta say, Tommy Rees effin' redeemed himself. That drive to go up 14-0 was a thing of beauty. Everything about the game tonight was just about maximum what you could have reasonably asked for. We block another punt, pix six for a hundred yards, defense is dominant, and the offense totally chips in and does their part as well.

Couldn't have drawn it up any better!

Today we saw the blueprint of how ND can win with Pyne. Emphasis on the run game, TOP, field position, strong defense, disciplined, no penalties. Keep Pyne pass attempts under 20 and use play action/pocket movement to make the decisions easier for him.

Great post!

And had this been known from the start, ND might have only 1 loss and be in the playoff picture.

No big deal. Freeman always was getting a year 1 honeymoon, unless things really were going south. But, I think what you posted nicely illustrates we're past the danger of going south...except for some recruiting.

:)

AHahahhrhrha! Ok, I'm a poor comedian.

But wow. Jekyll and Hyde. I think ND is cured. I think ND can win all remaining games, including USC and a marquee bowl game. Freeman seems to have weathered the storm.

Crazy season. But I will cheer cheer for Old Notre Dame!

Yep.

Things are changing for the better.

We can look forward to an exciting finish this season...and dream of being a playoff team next season...fingers crossed the rest of the way.

Interesting how you suddenly are posting all over.

And all the same note

ND will never get the players they need etc

Hmmmmm

BECAUSE why?

We are too tough on those poor football players, making them go to class unlike Alabama and elsewhere

Or is it you are one of those enslaved by conferences?

Actually, I remember Slager and Holiday as decent QB's...Slager got us to, and played the whole way in, the Gator Bowl against Penn State in '75...

And what about Godsey...Dillingham...Failla...

This game reassures me about Rees to an extent; the game plan was excellent

Holiday ended up playing WR in the NFL and that is where he should have played at ND. Failla was a decent MLB prospect.

Pyne made a couple really important first down scrambles last night, and the TD run and TD pass were great calls by Rees, and well executed by Pyne. It was great to see Pyne’s swagger back and hope he builds on this game. That said, we need more than sub 50% completions and 85 yards passing from our QB. My guess is we see a more confident and more productive Pyne the rest of this season, notwithstanding the negatives of his physical limitations. I hope Angeli gets meaningful playing time the next two weeks, which of course would mean we take care of business early and often against two weaker opponents, and avoid the any let down.

Yet you didn’t think we would win last night. And you said recruiting was crashing.
That guy posts so many negative things it makes you question as to whether or not he's just simply a troll.

If not, then perhaps he does it to portray himself to be the smartest guy in the room when in all actuality it reveals he's the exact opposite.

Pyne is limited in ability, which is not at all his fault, but ND is good enough to not blame our losses on him. To beat a team like Georgia you likely need a better QB and total team effort, but Pyne is not this years issue. Lack of motivation was clearly the issue.

That effort by Notre Dame last night would’ve beaten Stanford and Marshall by 50 easily.

At times Wimbush was probably worse…Pyne did what he had to tonight. Kudos to him, he’s a tough kid.
I'd definitely take Wimbush (autocorrect keeps changing it to Wimpish) over Pyne, and proabably over what little of Buchner I've seen. Wimbush was a terrific runner and he had a strong arm -- he just couldn't control it. He at least had the ability to make the quick decision to sling it downfield, and he hit enough of those types of plays. My memory of Wimbush is he couldn't hit a little swing pass or screen to save his life. Plus, I think he was one of several QBs to suffer under the second year under Brian Kelly syndrome where he must have put so much pressure on them that they cracked.

This post reminds me of a person who won the lottery. Then bitched about paying taxes..

This is why we need a 12 team playoff. Some teams improve throughout the season amd a light comes on. Not saying we’d have made it, but if we were a 2 loss team, we might make a 12 team playoff this year.

It's crazy, these posters have greater allegiance to BK then ND, like he won Championships or playoff games.

100% agree … can’t expect us to win same
Way at usc
Yes we can. Playing the way we played yesterday is our best chance to beat USC.

Notre Dame will have a much better advantage up front against USC than they did last night.

Agreed. Smash Mouth football travels well. I'd rather have 250 yards rushing instead of 300 years passing when paired with a strong defense made stronger by ND controlling the click and excellent special teams play. Also, the play action pass game means passing yardage comes when ND is comfortable with the coverage, no forced throws.

Best part of last nights game was that in Q4 Clemson knew ND was going to run the ball and couldn't stop it!

I post as a fan of Notre Dame. Hoping they win a title. Sharing ideas on how. Just like everybody else.

And yes, yesterday was exciting.
