Yea there was a thread about it. Everyone seems to think the guy should be punished or even charged, but in pro sports at least, it's always been my understanding that anyone who steps on the field is fair game. That guy was in his way, was not supposed to be there and the player was trying to get off the field. I personally don't have a problem with it.

That's why I often go out of my way to run over jay walkers. Bastards shouldn't be there.
I do like to knock over bicyclists that don't ride single file down the highways and county roads....but other than that.

They were college kids enjoying possibly the biggest win in school history. It was USC for cryssakes! It's happened at ND Stadium, and hope it happens again in a couple of weeks. ..

If you hit them just right...the front tire wobbles and they usually take 2 or 3 other bicyclists down with them (and maybe a pedestrian if lucky)...

I can't just blame the fan on this one. He really slid a little sideways and put his shoulder into this fan. It knocked him on his ars! I get the not on the field thing, but if the NCAA really meant it - they would increase the fine or start charging people with a crime of some sort. The university will pay the $25,000, send a message to the students not to do it again, but hoping they win a big one again....

I used to work construction (and play tournament softball) in Iowa summers during college. Our company had a old-ass straight truck that if you put in the clutch while driving down the road, gunned the engine and then let off the clutch, the truck would emit the absolutely loudest, M80-sounding backfire in exactly 3 seconds.
It was always fun to come up on a bicyclist (or someone out getting their mail), time the boom just right.... and scare the living shit out of them.
I do feel bad about the old man in the ditch though.

i've charged the field and sometimes the court many times at ND. part of the college experience. home field? let them have fun. Trojan player sad. When did we get so hateful of a kid enthused and enjoying the moment?
I find no humor in this comment. I ride every year to raise money to find a cure for juvenile diabetes. That’s right, i ride a bike to raise money. You have no idea how mean drivers can be. We obey all the rules and are cautious and ride single file and we still have to be abused by behavior like this.

You can blame the kid who was on the field but at the end of the day it was battery and a clear case of excessive force. The USC player did nothing to avoid the contact but in fact initiated it. The fan did not impede his path to the locker room.
I agree. It's deplorable to make fun of hitting bikers with cars.
That shit is serious business and should not be taken lightly. The best way to accomplish your goal is to get them with the door, or, if you happen to have a gas can in the vehicle, that could work quite well.
The key here is to minimize damage to your car.
