I say this because he is already being projected as a first-round pick next season.

Had he not transferred, maybe he could have challenged Tommy Rees for the 2013 starting role when Everett was declared ineligible. I don't think he would have started at the beginning of the season, and I don't know know how long Brian Kelly would have stuck with Rees in 2013 ... or if Gunner would have been even ahead of Andrew Hendrix. Kiel indicated he didn't have a good relationship with QB coach Chuck Martin, and it there is a disconnect, could he have reached his potential at Notre Dame?
