Golson to Florida State

No real surprise. FSU needs a good kid like Golson to begin repairing the reputation that was even further tarnished since Fisher and Winston arrived. Obviously he would be a step up and the fact that he would actually have a degree would be quite a novelty at FSU.

Do you know why Golson sat out a year? With every post you continue to degrade this board.

2 of my co-workers that are diehard FSU fans laughed when I told them that. They are skeptical to say the least.

Well it's about time someone steps up and shows FSU to be what they are. Congratulations on your bold move. Is this a one-shot deal or do you plan to continue the assault?

The Maguire kid is a stiff. Golson is better than anyone they've got now. However you'll never win a championship with Golson. He'll win a couple of games by himself and he'll lose you a couple of games by himself.

The Golson fan boys who went to sleep with a #5 jersey - could never come to grips with that fact and we're still riding his jock up until a week ago. While I wish him well I'm glad he's gone. It was time.

Golson would be an upgrade over anything they have and he actually has a degree which somehow FSU will take as a part of their academic excellence after 10 of 11 players recently drafted did so without a degree. Yes, disgraceful, but it's FSU under Jumbo. Hard to believe but today may be worse than what Bowden did!

Just read this: "But while Magurie left spring with a strong grip on the job, that does not necessarily mean he'll be a strong starting QB for the Seminoles. At the very least, Golson could provide competition and experienced depth -- something FSU is quite short on."

that would be a kick in the teeth for EG -- but from what i hear he would win the job

Let him go to FSU - He quit on ND and his teammates. He needs to grow up. He can go sulk on the sidelines somewhere else after he throws an INT or puts the ball on the ground trying to carry it around in 1 hand and away from his body.

The more I think about it - the more I think this George Whitfield character who supposedly trained him for 3 months prior to last season is a fraud. You think they would of worked on ball security and how to carry it correctly when taking off to run or avoiding the rush.

EG has ball security issues and decision making issues - not good for a QB.

We lose some depth w/out him - but MZ will perform and Wimbush or Kizer will step up. We are better off w/out the E.Q (Quitter).

George Whitfield primarily works on fundamentals and techniques on how to play QB and throw the ball. He does private one-on-one coaching. That doesn't really allow for opportunities to teach scheme and decision making progressions.

Cmon. Could send you to Dave Pelz or Butch Harmom and you're still not breaking 80. Can't replicate Saturday or Leonard Williams on a beach or

hmm, there was a thread earlier about EG indicating he wanted to return but could not qualify for grad school. If that's the case, I view him in a completely different light. I wouldn't qualify back in the day for grad school either so I can empathize with him. So, I sort of feel sorry for the kid if that's the case. Wherever he ends up they'll bench him as soon as they lose a game so they can get their QB some experience for the following year.

Go Irish!

Golson is a little under 6' tall. Some in the media are saying he might go to Georgia or South Carolina. It will be interesting where he ends up considering the knocks on him from here are:
  • Too short.
  • Fumbler with small hands.
  • Poor decision maker on the field.
  • Can't handle a pressure situation.
  • Can't handle coaches that yell and scream.
  • Doesn't take criticism well.
Sounds like the perfect guy for Steve Spurrier! He he he! :)
My guess if he were to go to FSU:
  • Coach Fisher is renowned for identifying players individual talents and playing them in different positions that best suits their skills. Therefore, Golson at FSU might end up as:
  • A kick off and/or punt return specialist.
  • A cornerback.
  • Slot receiver
  • Special situation back up QB (probably not in the red zone however)
If Golson did transfer to FSU he might end up like QB Christian Ponder or other great FSU players that graduated and left with MBA's or other types of Masters degrees.

And ND vs. a Golson led FSU in the playoffs or in a bowl game would really be something interesting!

My how times do change. Not that long ago people on this very board were saying Golson was "The Front Runner for the Heisman". I haven't noticed any of those comments in this thread however!?

I read that BUT do not remember ANY former ND player that could not get into a grad school. Any program....the easiest??? If so BK surely was NOT blind-sided. Plus once you are in you could leave after the fall semester. I think he lost the job to MZ.

On the contrary, I think EG is an extremely talented player and a huge loss for this team. He was a legitimate Heisman contender 6 games into last year as per ESPN and NBCsports. Not just some on this board. And he won the 7th game but the win was taken away by the refs. The kids a player.

I've been an EG fan all along and was expecting him to win the starting job, honestly. But after watching the Spring game I had to admit that MZ seemed like the clear winner (at least in the game). While I am concerned now that we no longer have the depth we were anticipating (gee, where have I heard that before as an Irish fan), I am encouraged by Malik's performance and attitude.

MZ is a hoss and will be great. He can pass plenty but the primary thing he brings is a winning spirit.

Golson is a very talented QB that we spent a ton of time/resource on. We needed him for next year as it would have been an absolute luxury to have 2 dual threat QB's. I'm guessing there would have been more designed runs for Golson with the Zaire safety net and vice versa. Now the playbook condenses and keeping Zaire healthy will be a priority.

imo for us to make a run this changes nothing at the position. Zaire has to be able to take off and cut loose all day every day. If kelly holds him or anyone else back then that's a mistake. It's ba**s to the wall if we are to be playoff bound.

I get the feeling the list of 10 schools was Golson's wish list, but he'll end up at the highest rated school that is willing to pretty much guarantee him the starting job.

This team went from a playoff contender to a giant question mark. I'm excited for MZ and he looks like he is going to be great, but losing EG is a loss.

What if Fisher tells him that McGuire is the starter unless Golson can learn a whole new offense and steal the job in just 15 fall camp practices?

I doubt FSU will anoint someone who hasn't taken a snap in their system. I doubt EG wants to play somewhere that won't give him a very big edge to win the job. That's all I'm saying. I think the process will have to play out a little more.

Whitfield also trained Johnny Manziel prior to his stellar rookie season.o_O

Fisher has already proved he will do anything to win. Lying to EG is expected, but I still think that Golson would be an upgrade over anyone they have on their roster and Fisher may be a stupid man but he obviously saw how Golson beat him last year in Tallahassee only to see the refs steal the victory from ND>

Please post under only one handle in the same thread so we only have to listen to your delusions only once. Thanks in advance.

Too bad this board doesn't take the same slant as all the other boards and ban your a$$ for double/triple posting in the same thread agreeing with yourself.

Pathetic!

Note: heard a discussion on Serius College Sports (91) this week and they were discussing that under Jimbo the grad rate has reached 80% and players drafted early are returning to complete their degree. Just sayin.......

This is the correct answer. There is zero chance he is being guaranteed to start.

WOW! One heck of a lot of bitterness and negative thoughts regarding past players and other programs. I would guess it's a case of HOPING that ND will be better without EG. Granted... he was inconsistent, but many qbs are that way. ND is now ONE injury away from being average.

Agree 100%. ZERO chance anyone is guaranteed to start. Jimbo will start the player who he believes will give FSU the best chance to win. The player who knows the playbook will have the upper hand. And Golson will be told that up front.... if there's anything to the rumor.

Just curious, who's MZ's back up and what's he like? Anybody?

MZ's back ups are as follows.....walk on, project in waiting, not on campus yet.

Sounds like an injury to MZ would have a very serious affect on the teams performance. Should that happen EG will be sorely missed. Keep your fingers crossed!

Consistency is the only refuge of the unimaginative. Boooooring.

Kizer won the place holding job and performed admirably.
There is a lot of pressure in that spot and he won the Music City Bowl for us. I think he was runner up MVP behind Zaire.

OT This has been a very difficult 2 weeks for argus. I'd appreciate you guys being nice to him and his make believe friends.

I think during and since the 2013 season, a lot of people have "gone missing". He hit his breaking point. It's pretty damn scary stuff in all reality. I'm thankful that he is a stupid crazy person and not a smart one. I've thought about him tracking down people like you and me, but with his first grade level grammar, we don't have much to worry about. I do feel for those in his locale. I know he has claimed to live in Tallahassee in the past, but I'm left wondering if he lives in Connecticut with the recent serial killer investigation going on there.

If Golson goes to FSU and somehow leads us to the playoffs, I'm going into hiding. I suggest you do the same.

Didn't think his mental condition could get much worse but witnessing the multiple argus alias meltdowns as of late are epic if not down right scary.

Years of mental health issues without the suggested therapy and proper meds has played a role in what we are witnessing currently. Continuing to be banned at other sites for his multiple postings hasn't helped either.

If Golson inks with FSU (especially if he's successful) could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I fear this may just be the calm before the storm.
