If I'm an elite athlete, and UGA is going to pay me top dollar and the state isn't going to tax it, that's very difficult to say no to.

"A new bill proposed in the Georgia legislature aims to eliminate the state’s 5.49 percent income tax for college athletes on their NIL deals. Essentially, this means that a Georgia Bulldogs quarterback making $1 million per year would get to keep an extra $55,000."

Not sure $950K vs 1M would be the deciding factor..for me at least.

....if the player is a nonresident of the state of Georgia, he would still have to report the income on his resident state tax return, workaround would be to establish Georgia residency which is more involved than just checking a box....

Exactly. Many professional athletes live in Florida just for that reason. They are still responsible for paying taxes in each and every state and city they play in. It's a nice perk for Georgia resident players for sure.

Meanwhile the rest of us who make far less then the “amateur athletes” are paying the taxes, I call Bulls**t.
