Not terribly surprising. Wish him well, but wasn't meant to be.

Done! He was AI not removed from school, his choice to leave to help his football career.

He could theoretically return to ND after a year at JUCO, which would probably make as much or sense than losing a year of eligibility on the ND scout team

No guarantees (at all) but other players have done this in the recent past

KeVarie Russell
Ishaq Williams
Nate Montana
etc.

^ true; he could return; apparently he did not inform his Dad of his move. His Dad wants him at ND.

Well there is no concern now about the 85 man roster. It would be nice if a few unhappy players from other schools would come in and fill the void.

Good luck to him. It is no shame not to be able to handle the demands of a modern day CFB program and the academics of Notre Dame. I know people don't want to hear that but c'est la vie.

Until he finishes his eligibility there is always a chance.

Julius Jones is another one that pulled his life together and ended up back at ND.

I think this is a very good move by a young man who still believes he should be playing on Sundays. Despite all the fan clamor here, he never earned the starting job, or even significant touches. Learning the play book and learning his blocking assignments and running with patience and actually blocking when needed were all areas where he simply didn't develop sufficiently. Thought year three was going to be different, and then the four game suspension and then the academic ineligibility. I expect he'll have a great year at judo and reignite the interest in his game. I hope he also has a good academic year. Returning to ND and finding success would be a great end to the story, but not at all what I expect.

It all depends on what Greg Bryant wants. I'm sure ND is willing to work with Bryant returning, provided he does what's required. But who honestly knows what Bryant wants? He may be confused himself. Regardless I wish him the best.

BK just said in his presser he would welcome Bryant back but that he's not sure Bryant would want to come back and commit himself to ND football and academics. He also said he would love to have a conversation with Bryant about the situation but that Bryant has been "elusive".
