On Wednesday, sixth-year senior wide receiver Charlie Jones entered his name into the transfer portal. The former two-star recruit from Deerfield (Ill.) High began his collegiate career at Buffalo before transferring to Iowa after the 2018 season.

While we are still working on the details, Inside ND Sports believes there is mutual interest between the two parties. This offseason, Notre Dame has been pursuing transfer portal wide receivers, and Jones fits ND's mold.

Jones signed with Buffalo and redshirted during the 2017 season. After recording 18 receptions for 395 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore in 2018, Jones transferred as a walk-on to Iowa.

Since joining the Hawkeyes in 2019, he has excelled as a wide receiver and return specialist. Last season, he won the Rodgers-Dwight Big Ten Return Specialist of the Year award and started in 10 games at wide receiver. He finished the season with 21 receptions for 323 receiving yards for three touchdowns.

According to @TomKakert of Hawkeye Report, Purdue is the leader to land Jones.

Inside ND Sports is working to confirm if Jones would be eligible for the 2022 season.
