I have followed Notre Dame football recruiting closely for the last 8 to 9 years but now have lost all interest in the recruiting game. I guess I just burned out on it. I am now back to where I was. Just being a fan of the players currently on the team.
Go Irish !
Beat Texas !.

*** Recruiting is very important and I really enjoyed following it.

BOD---I get the same way every spring---

a zillion offers go out----

Half a zillion kids are"BLESSED" to be offered by such a great university

1/4 Zillion are never heard of again

and 20 odd finally end up IRISH.

It's a year long sifting out process and extremely frustrating at times--

BUT OLD BUDDY round about Jan 1st you'll get the bug back and you'll

be lookin at the kids who will be the stars of the future at ND--it's in your

good green Iraih blood. 11-1 or better--onward to victory !!!

SHAKE DOWN THE THUNDER LADS-----

I don't follow the recruiting very closely. Once a player has committed I try to learn a little more about him.. I admire posters who keep on top of the recruiting and post information so others that are interested in knowing who the players are being recruited. NDsince35 does a heck of a job. I don' t know how he does it.

I enjoy watching the recruiting show from afar too, but one poster I always check out is NDsince35. I don't know how he does it consistently, but 35 has a knack for grabbing important details and summarizing them in a concise and entertaining way. Keep up the good work my friend.

BTW 35: Who are you sleeping with to get all this inside info?

MSU is my favorite Big Ten team so I follow them as well. But don't follow their recruiting one bit. They get mainly 3*'s with a few 4*'s and 2*'s thrown in. They redshirt almost everybody and by the time they get field they have coached them up and toughened them up. It really doesn't matter what they were rated coming in because they aren't the same player by the time they hit the field. They just get players that fit their system.

As long as you trust in Kelly and the staff to go after the best players that will fit their system and if the system works, you really don't have to follow recruiting. Sure it's nice to hear about the recruits and see who ND is bringing in, but the guys we have should get all the attention, not fickle high school kids. Dismissing players on the team who were 3*'s coming in is foolish. With hard work and dedication, they can be as good as the 4 and 5* kids.

I pay attention to one once they are basically for sure coming to the school. I don't have enough time in my day to follow every recruit.

I have found just listening to the S. Bend daily sports show on the radio and especially Eric Hansen and Taylor James they do a good job summerizing most of it for me. If I have questions after that I ask on here.

" I guess I just burned out on it. "

I hear ya Bod -- I read the stuff, but that is about it -- I can really care less about who is being "offered" everyday. Recruiting these days seems to be more of a popularity contest than anything.

And people get utterly ticked when a kid commits -- then de-commits --

The only time I really will pay attention is near the end of January when it is getting close to LOI day.

Outside of that -- is it nothing more a dog and pony show.

It is hard to follow when Florida St. already has a better recruiting class for 2016 than our 2015 class. Check out Georgia, Bama, Ohio St, UCLA, USC, and even Penn st... all teams off to strong classes for next season. Tough to follow this stuff when ND use to get these players but doesn't anymore. Of course we just need that one special QB and that can change the entire program, gotta hope for the best

Looking at the early 2016 recruiting ,we have a commitment from a really talented player in OT T. Kraemer. Other than that we are not in on many of the top players . Georgia ,Florida St. Clemson,Ole Miss,Ohio St.,Alabama ,Miami ,even Penn State have big time committs .And many of these 4-5 star recruits are headed for SEC schools. .and ACC schools (Miami ,FSU,Clemson .)

At the skill positions we are offering 3-star athletes .

Difficult to follow the hundreds of names that appear on ND websites.Doesn't mean a thing until Jan,Feb

RB commit is a 4* on other sites. Watch his film, he will not be a 3* for long.

It's early, ND has 4 commits. Staff will recruit well. New coaches seem to be well liked by recruits.

Recruiting success this year will be determined on the field of play. Big year, big results on the recruiting trail.

BTW, we stole two of PSU's biggest names last year.

Bod...I'm right there with ya! ND35 is MY recruiting guru.........when they SIGN on NSD....then I'm all for the new RKG's.

Go Irish!!!
