Notre Dame Nation:

I am still on cloud nine after the season finale and victory over Southern Cal (As Digger would say). I was thinking and would like your thoughts. I understand that we have some outstanding players on this team, but there are always the unsung heroes that don't get much attention. My vote would be Tyler Buchner for his role on the scout team in preparation for the service academies and on special teams. The fake punt (run) and the pass on yesterday definitely made a difference but isn't talked about much. Who would be your unsung hero for this year's team.

Go Irish!!!!!

Love the fact he came back from Bama, is helping wherever he can

And got a lacrosse NC ring

The players mentioned are outstanding choices. Another person that I would like to mention is a position that we all were concerned with and that is left tackle Anthony Knapp. He had some ups and some down, but the coaches stuck with him, and it paid off. This kid is a true freshman and to be thrown into the fire and consistently improve is noteworthy. I would give an honorable mention to Billy
Schrauth, because him being inserted at left guard cemented the offensive line play and seemingly, they played a lot better.

Go Irish!!!!!!

While not completely unsung, I’d say Leonard, especially because of all the flak he took and people wanting to get rid of him after two games. We’ll never know if another QB would have beaten A&M, Louisville, and USC.

I’m glad he came to ND.

Hinish. Guy is undersized for nose tackle, but plays his ass off. Hope we have Cross back, but totally appreciate the job Hinish has done in his absence.

Kiser. I think his influence carries over to the younger LBs and helps them thrive.
I would not want to come off the field if I were him. He paid his dues behind Liufau and Bertrand but didn’t get the playing time that they did when they were at ND. This allowed for development for the younger guys.

So plenty of respect to him. His record for games played should stand for a very long time. Almost impossible to surmount.
