Sorry if this has been discussed (I am sure it has) but does it seem wrong to anyone else that ND only received a 3 seed?

Don't get me wrong, a 3 seed is awesome, but I thought I had heard/read before the ACC tourney that Nd was projected to be a.....3 seed. So we go on to win one of the hardest conference tournaments and we still remain a 3 seed. Let a lone a 3 seed with the top overall seed in the same region.

Am I right to feel ND got wronged, or am I just an ignorant, biased basketball fan?

Most of the teams on the top 2 lines won or at least played for the conference tournament titles. The committee said some of the teams (Kentucky & Whiskey) had their top seeds locked up before the conference tournaments. Duke, UVA, and Nova were probably fighting for the last two #1 seeds. Nova won their tournament and Duke's loss to ND was better then UVA's no-show against UNC. ND wasn't get a bump to a #2 in my opinion unless they beat UVA in the conference title game. As it was because of the way the committee protects top 4 seeds and conferences, ND couldn't play in Duke or UVA's brackets. This left the Midwest or the West for ND. If ND had been booted out the west ND would have been in Florida first round. I am sure putting them in Pennsylvania instead was seen as doing them a favor. Duke and UVA weren't going to fall from a potential #1 to a #3 to allow ND to get bumped to a #2. All the other teams won except for Kansas which has a really solid resume outside their blow out by Kentucky.

Duke's out of conference was so much stronger then ND's that it overcame 2 loses to ND and UVA's loss to UNC wasn't going to bump them 2 levels.

Please Please, people shouldn't even attempt to explain the selection process, it's complete BS. Certain schools are protected for their Marque basketball brand, and others are simply not. There is no explanation in the world to have Duke as a 1 seed and ND as a 3 seed, when in fact ND beat Duke 2 out of 3 times, play in the same conference and their records are virtually identical. Hey I like Duke, they are my favorite team, after ND, but no way they should be 1 and ND 3. That said, you go where they tell you, play your best, win and move on. In order to be the best, you beat the best; so in that sense ND has a tremendous opportunity in front of them.

You speak the truth. Also $$$$$$$ is a factor behind teams like UCLA making the show. Bring the fans, make the Dance.

I think one could argue the same has held true for Notre Dame in football over the years. How else to explain some of the bowl bids we got over the year or the original BCS arrangement. So while it sucks that the basketball team get stuck in a tough bracket, it ultimately doesn't matter because they will have to beat some good teams no matter where they were placed.

Duke being overrated doesn't affect ND's entitlement to a higher seed except for making their claim weaker. I agree with Tex the seeding in the top quarter of the bracket is pretty correct. A couple teams may be bumped up or down a seed but there is nothing that is just straight up terrible.

It doesn't matter where they are seeded. They have to beat whoever they play. They should get to the sweet 16. If they don't, then for me that would be a major letdown. We will see how they do. It's the tournament where the unexpected usually happens. Go Irish!!
