We watch these guys 80-90 hours a week. We play the best players. You're gonna have trust that we believe we start the guys who give us the best chance to win. Clearly pissed at the anti-JS rhetoric.

People need to remember these are young men going to college. I seriously doubt when they take the field they are trying to miss tackles, drop passes and throw interceptions. Everyone of the players do their best each week. Sometimes they are great, other times not so great. That's how it is in sports. I'm sure they want to win as much as we want them to win. Joe Schmidt gives all he has each and every week. What else can you ask for? Regardless of his talent level, the kid is a born leader. Just watch how he communicates on and off the field. He is the main cog in the Irish defense. I love that kid. Just watching him on the sideline of the Southern Cal game yelling " we wants this game!" , that says it all about his determination and desire to win. All the other players feed off of that. That's why Joe Schmidt is playing every week. When Joe Schmidt went down last season so did the Irish defense. Let's hope he stays healthy the rest of the year.

When Morgan played last year the defense was decimated by injuries and suspensions etc. Also Morgan was a true freshman and didn't know the plays. So I don't take BK at face value. All coaches have their favorites and then they justify their decisions by saying anything to anyone willing to believe it. Schmidt has intangibles and deserves to start but Morgan needs to get in the lineup for some meaningful play ASAP.

I only posted what Kelly said because Jack Nolan (at O'Roarkes last night) asked him point blank about the criticism of JS. It was as if CBK had been reading this message board the last couple months. He could not have been more emphatic. He seemed fed up with the criticism. You think he reads rivals?
