App St is a good test for GaAnd the backup just threw one up for grabs that they were lucky to catch for a td.
Backup Fromm is another blue chip recruit who pushed Eason quite a bit in the spring. They won't lose much. And the backup just threw one up for grabs that they were lucky to catch for a td.
Totally disagree with this. I think Eason is a spellbindingly elite talent. However, Fromm is also very good and ND can hardly breathe a sigh of relief if Eason can't play.Fromm > Eason
Eason out 6-8 weeks according to some sound off board poster.
I agree that GA will attempt to power it down ND's throat. It is important for the Irish to start fast and take GA out of their game plan if at al possible. Stop GA's running game and don't give up the big play on the pass and ND has a good chance.
After watching the Georgia game, I'm not sure their offensive line is going to power anything down our throat. For the most part, they really weren't doing that against App. St.'s undersized 3 man front (that lacked much, if any, rotation on a hot day). I really expected to see Georgia push the LOS more. IMO, Fromm did a great job of coming out and connecting on some passes, which is what opened up Georgia's running game.
Chubb and Michel are going to be tough to bring down in the open field - that will be a problem. Our defense may have a tougher time with the outside runs and keeping TE's covered over the middle. We can't afford whiff tackles.
Fromm had all spring and fall practice to show that, and Eason was still the starter. That doesn't mean Fromm isn't very good.Fromm > Eason
Their oline stinks. Every Uga fan knows that. They have to win in spite of them until some highly prized frosh are ready to take over. After watching the Georgia game, I'm not sure their offensive line is going to power anything down our throat. That's how it was last year for us too - we would chip away until Chubb / Michel would eventually break a few. I've heard we are getting one of our OG back which might help us in that area.
"Expecting" Riley Ridley - our #1 WR back this week too....
Yeah, I wasn't dismissing Georgia's overall running game. I expect your guys to break some runs. I just don't expect to see your offensive line pushing our guys around all day. Likewise, I don't see our guys pushing your defensive line around either. We'll have to earn our yards. We did run a lot of multiple TE's sets Saturday, which is something you didn't face from App. State.
You guys gonna have Aaron Davis and Malkom Parrish ready to start Saturday?
Sorry to hear about your QB, that sucks, but I guess better sooner than in the middle of the year. That said good luck and let's pray for a great, injury free game!Aaron Davis should be fine, not sure on Parrish.
Your observations are line with what we see, in terms of running repeatedly into a stacked box with an overmatched OL. Power running is fine, but some creativity would be nice, and that's our biggest complaint around playcalling.
Everything in this thread is spot on. Eason is an elite talent, but fans have a quiet confidence in Fromm. He is a gamer.
That said, it's no secret what we'll try to do - pound the ball with our stud RBs, play solid D, and wear you down for 4 quarters.
Excited to watch your OL versus our front 7. That should be a tremendous matchup.
