I think we went from hoping there would be positive surprises to now where we are hoping there aren't any negative surprises. If there aren't any defections, this is still a nice class.
However, what can't be denied is how hard the staff worked on getting the recruits to listen. Ultimately you can't force a kid to go somewhere he doesn't want to. It is disappointing about DRob because even I drank the kool aid on that one. The reason why it is disappointing is because many 5 star athletes aren't in the aisle ND shops. Here is a kid that is in that aisle.

if you thought last season was mediocre football you should find another sport to follow.
This class is good. And lets see in 2 years. It may be even better....it may be worse.
Next year could bring that GREAT class. Let's all hope for another good season like 2015, and it may just happen. Hey.....remember the last 10 years. NSD was not only a day of not stockpiling like Bama, but we usually were losing top tier talent also. So Congrats to the staff on putting together a band of kids that will put it all on the line for the next 4-5 years for the Irish.

Not true at all. Many on this board have sipped the champagne a few times in their lives.
TOS guys lulled ND fans into the expectation of the "big finish" to garner interest. They had seemingly daily posts along these lines. It is their job to promote interest, interest means readers, readers result in possible revenue.
It's a job.
Experience has gererally taught us that recruits that "play the game" till the very 11th hour are more football than education.
The more football weighs in the equation the less ND' academic advantage matters.
I have always thought that the best teammate wants to get aboard as early as possible to begin 'working' for the team and his future.
Unfortunately the 3.7 year NFL career is the only thought in the heads of these kids and often their advisors.
Even H.S. coaches ride the coat tail of the rare super recruit to explore career advancement.
I recently watched Boardwalk Empire and the goings on could easily be about college football rather than prohibition when comparing the characters and sly dealings.

Not sure how long you have been following ND recruiting, but I honestly believe the WORST Irish fans are the ONLY one's chatting or posting on National Signing Day ! If you listened to these "bums" you would swear that ND hasn't won anything since Rockne !

Top 10 class is what we need every year. As long as we do that we are in line to play with the big boys. Now getting a top 5 class is necessary every few years to fill in things but overall we are doing pretty good considering the immense handicap we have been under in this modern age of football recruiting.
Those professional whiners refuse to acknowledge that ND will never be able to recruit top 3 classes year in and year out and its getting harder all the time with how superficial kids are in this day and age. So many of them swallow whole the crap fed to them about how great they will be in the NFL and how a college education is no big deal.
When you think of how young kids starting at the latest anymore in 7th grade start getting special treatment if they show potential of being top athletes is it any wonder that by the time they come out of high school (notice I do not degrade things by saying graduate) their heads are already mount Rushmore sized?
Trying to deal with that has to be the pits.
Then you have interfering parents with delusions of their own. It is noticeable how many ND recruits are pushed our way by moms. We really need to have a special Irish Mom's Brigade set up for recruiting. I think it would be a big Help.
But the delusional and sadly all too often greedy parents only see dollar signs in the future coming into THEIR pockets.
Overall I think Kelly and company do about as good a job as could be done recruiting. Could it be better- sure. But we are doing OK.
