an oxymoron. And, to clarify the question, I'm talking about the ND coaches telling a kid that he has an offer, but his commitment would not be accepted at this time. I can understand telling recruits that they really like them, but for x,y & z reasons they can't offer them now, or that they would not accept a commitment at this time. I know some here will try and wordsmith things, but an offer that is not committable is not an offer. Or, does ND offer kids that they do not want to take at the present time for whatever reasons and run the risk of having to tell them NO if they try to commit ?
I can understand conditional offers related to academics or telling kids that they are 2nd or 3rd in line, but again, that's different than what most people here refer to as uncommitable offers. Now, we know that other programs play games with recruits and dump them at the last minute, etc., but almost every recruit relates in his interviews that the coaches at ND are very honest and straight forward.
