Do you guys think the administration even wants ND football to be great?

There are many who feel that the University wants to keep the program in its place and that the academic side hates the program.

If it is necessary to admit dolts like you, no chance. I second the motion.

they give a R-A about football; but they do enjoy all those perks and nice offices that the fame and fortune the relationship with football over decades has rewarded them with. But now football is beneath them!

I think they want ND to be ND - great in athletics with student athletes. It is a strange concept to most in the BIG for sure, but it can be done. Just look at ND's recent success in girl's basketball, 2012 football title game, men's basketball this past season, hockey, lacrosse and so on.

This place has become the Wild West. There is no sheriff, or idiots like this would be gone. What happened to the Corn Field? There are at least a dozen regular posters on this site that sould be gone. There is a big difference between having an opposing thought verus being a troll who eggs people on.

I will say it's fine to have high academic standards but unfortunately with those standards some kids will have trouble staying academically eligible to play. Not all football players were enrolled in AP and Honors classes in high school which puts them at a disadvantage. Plus football is a year round commitment now which a player devotes a lot of time to. There are only so many hours in the day.

^^ Friar

at the D1 level football is in fact a vocational major, making the athlete a double major.

I think every poster should read Lambert's comments about being a football player at ND and take them to heart. Because clearly the administration doesn't seem to care.

You don't seem to get the picture. No one here gives a rat's ass what you think. You are viewed as a troll, here for no reason but to stick your thumb in the eye of Notre Dame and its fans. No one here is going to take anything you say seriously, as you are a damned fool with no redeeming qualities. So I suggest that you take your BS elsewhere. Maybe on the Indiana board, someone will find something you say to be interesting. That will not be the case here.

Clearly the administration does care. Otherwise they wouldn't have standards and actually stick to them (see LSU for example). They would have athlete only classes if they didn't care (see michigan for example). They would turn a blind eye to boosters paying players (see Alabama for example).

What a dumbass question. I think we know the answer and have for years. Where'd Carson Palmer go to school? TJ Duckett? Nuf said.

Not one of those teams you mentioned have won a national title in recent years. You're just mentioning a bunch of choke jobs of late.

Stanford has some less difficult classes for the athletes to take. And their admissions are even tougher than ND. Are you telling me that all the degrees that students receive are now meaningless when it comes to job opportunities around the world? Ridiculous.

Clearly they don't care or they wouldn't expect football players who are at risk already to perform just as well in academics at Notre Dame than the other students who can devote ALL of their time to academics.

You see, this is what coach Kelly means when he refers to all of his players are at risk and how some are forced to take shortcuts. Its probably why the team suffers ON the field as well. Yes there are standards and then there is being rigid, stubborn and ridiculous.

But I'm sure all of you played football at ND and know what these guys go through.

You seem to think you know. Did you play football at ND? Really set yourself up for that one.

No Turnover, those teams didn't win championships. Oh wait, the 2014 Mens Soccer team did win the national championship. The others were in a position to do so and didn't. The point is the administration had no problem with those teams being good enough to win a title, because they were student athletes that performed in the classroom.

This poster is as bad as the OP. He is another guy pretending to be an ND fan. He has zero appreciation for how difficult it is to compete at the top levels of sports.

This guy might as well run around with a "Kick Me" sign taped to his back.

The original post is dumb to the extent of being Mo1e and cgvr worthy.

Those who run Notre Dame have integrity, love of the school and a passion for excellence in everything Notre Dame stands for, stands with and represents. While many may disagree with a few of the recent moves (moving some sports to an affiliation with the ACC is one) few are dumb enough to even suspect the ND leaders are not trying to positively promote every aspect of Notre Dame.
