Do writers have more common sense than coaches?

Yes this has been talked about before. ND is probably a 14-17 so 15 seems fine. Although according to the LA Times which is basically rough TP in all facets, ND is just pretty okay.

I think the coaches look at our last four games, Ohio St and Duke and Louisville and USC, and see our lack of offense, and rank us accordingly. Not sure either really looks at our total season…combined record of opponents 38-13…playing eight straight games…starting the season in Ireland…playing four straight undefeated ranked teams…etc…. While I agree With the rankings of the writers this week, none of this matters, and I tend to ignore until the seasons end when playoffs are determined, as are the New Years Six Bowls.

Coaches don't look into this, they don't care. They care about their team, period. I'll bet 95% of them don't realize ND played 4 ranked teams at night

Coach's Poll is always biased. Because some coaches hate certain teams no matter how well they might be playing.

Coaches supposedly hurry n fill out their vote each week and some have an assistant do it

AP has ND 15.
Coach poll has ND behind USC and Duke. Duh. 2 losses does not put you behind usc after you beat them by 4 tds
I thought the same thing

The lack of offense is telling

I put more credence into the AP Poll, personally. Not only is the Coaches' Poll biased, but they don't have time to watch games all over the country, like the sportswriters do. They're too busy coaching their own teams.

Ask Bobby Knight about the minds of a sportswriter. OK, so I mean thirty some years ago, not much going on today with the old legend's mind. Also, I know it's two different sports.

Relatively speaking, you’re correct, but the reality is that the sportswriters don’t have the time to see all of the games, and they don’t possess the necessary evaluative skills.

Vegas is the only qualified entity capable of properly ranking the teams !

in addition, Vegas doesn’t have the inherent biases possessed by the coaches and writers
