Good God...what you want him to say? Notre Dame is the be all greatest thing ever. Matter of fact why is any team even playing football they are so good.
He is sounding like any other competitive coach.
Even in defeat a good competitive coach has trouble admitting defeat.
I don't want a coach so joyfully accepting of losing.
"That other team".....
Resonates like a Bo/Woody distasteful disdain. I'm fine with it. Wish we made more teams mad when we beat them, it's good rivalry material.
Can't wait for the day when both schools peak in the same cycle and we get a true slobber knocker of the very best in college ball. The national championship should run through this rivalry, and CFB is at its very best when everything depends on the outcome between two rival heavyweights in there prime.
The 100 yards in penalties were mostly when Will Fuller was tackled before he was going to catch the ball for long touchdown grabs. 15 yards instead of 50 penalties.
They WERE mistakes by USC. The one pass #6 intercepted was a great play. Outside of that the other pick was a horrible throw.....they key is capitalizing on the other teams mistakes. Which we did. A competitive coach is not going to concede anything to the other team. Not saying he should be joyful. How bout giving credit where it's due. The interceptions and blocked punt were mistakes? No, they were good plays.

Ok...ready?Explain how the other pick was a horrible throw.
It would've hit the receiver right on the money if KeiVarae Russell hadn't broken up the pass with Max Redfield in perfect position to pick off the deflection.
Seriously, explain how it was a horrible throw. I'll listen..... then laugh at you.
Ok...ready?
It was a deep in. The bad part is this. There was tight draping coverage all over the receiver...and guess what else....there were three....yes three other Irish defenders in the immediate vicinity. I wouldn't go as far to say he was quadruple covered but he was well covered and had three other defenders all within 3-4 yards of that receiver.
Now I have no idea why we had so many covering one guy but you can bet someone...or ones were wide open on that.
Ssssoooo while you are laughing and feel this need of vindication from the opposing coach of all people for God sakes, I call reality and that was a terrible throw.
The punt.....some of the rush was not accounted for. Bad on USC.
Russell interception...spectacular play. Good throw. He literally MADE a play on that.
The second pick.....you don't throw into 4 Irish defenders whilst one of them is glued on the receiver to begin with.
I echo again that is a terrible decision/throw.
Said that the game was decided by 6 mistakes the trojans made, including the blocked punt & turnovers. Those were great special teams & defensive plays. Give credit where it's due.
He also referred to ND as that other team.
Show some class in defeat.

By the way, 6 mistakes is a HUGE amount of mistakes in a game. You deserve to lose with that many big mistakes. Some teams lose heart-breakers with just one mistake. I guess when his star DB got toasted by Fuller, it was just a "mistake." C'mon man! The better team will make the lesser team make "mistakes."Said that the game was decided by 6 mistakes the trojans made, including the blocked punt & turnovers. You need to go back and watch that one play. A zone defense each person gets their section of the field. The throw to JuJu on the first drive could have been intercepted as well if Russell turns around. Was that really a great throw or a should have been interception. Very fine line when throwing into tight coverage, but that's what QBs do. In terms of there being 3 other defenders around the WR on the tip, it was a zone defense with Russell playing man. There should be multiple ND players around the WR and that does not mean someone else was wide open. That argument does not hold much water. If it had been true zone coverage, which is probably what Kessler thought it was when he saw the defense drop, the play would have been a completion. The only mistake was not recognizing that Russell was still shadowing, but that is part of the chess match right?
The blocked punt - all on the coaching staffs - no doubt about it. In 95% of cases where the other team is punting from their 25 you play for field position. ND saw something in the SC blocking alignment that led them to believe they could get a block and they went for it when SC would never expect it. As the opposing coach, best to just keep your mouth closed on that play unless you're apologizing for being out coached or complimenting the other team.
That's right but the point is one other receiver..possibly two were not covered. Again any competitive coach will look at that and say we shouldn't have thrown it in there when player x was open.I actually think this may have been a busted coverage by Russell. That sounds weird considering the great play he made, but he was playing man on that receiver all the way IIRC. The defense wasn't actually sound with that coverage (and the #2 receiver to that side runs an out route and is uncovered). Perhaps, given the score, the coaches tried something funky hoping it could draw a mistake from the QB.
The only real threat to that play was Russell. The outside linebackers and safeties were not much threat to that crossing route. Kessler sees the two deep safeties bailing with the Mike running the deep middle third, so he knows he has the deep crossing route, except Russell is playing man for some reason.
Jason dehorn could have had Angie Harmon every day but walked awayJason Sehorn today said that USC was up by two scores and blew the game. He said that after every great play USC made they would make an equally bad play to ND.
Face it. These USC players, coaches, alumni, and fans are all a bunch of ignorant, drunken, criminal, drugged out of their mind, CRY BABIES ! Pat Haden included.
Proof he is the rkg for the u$c job. No class.Said that the game was decided by 6 mistakes the trojans made, including the blocked punt & turnovers. Those were great special teams & defensive plays. Give credit where it's due.

ND got out played by Clemson, but ND was the better team.Do you feel like Notre dame let Clemson win or do you feel like Clemson earned every inch of the victory?
I know a lot of you along with me feel like we lost the game more than Clemson won it.
That is no different than USC saying what they are saying. None
So much but hurt over Helton. I hope USC hires him and he flames out.
