Yes and no. ND needed space eaters along the D-line or basically get over matched against the contenders at what point in time is ND going to fully embrace NIL and pay players like OSU, Michigan, Oregon, and the rest of them. OSU was the best store bought team in college football and it showed on Monday night just watch how many professions get drafted from OSU this year. Granted al the injuries ND has endured mattered , but OSU is afraid of going out and paying the best players in the country. Michigan paid a QB $10 million other schools are paying $20 to $25 million to grt players. Has ND closed the gap, absolutely, but the top players expect to get paid building a team just through recruiting will get you close, bit elite teams have difference makers that only mo ney can buy.

I like the slot corner ND got and they added so me speed at at wide out , once again, you do not see a lot of players from major conference flocking to ND. I wish the Irish the best and they are knocking on the door, now it is time to knock the door down.

There is another portal window in April and I would assume they are not done if there are players available then who fit.

Not saying you're wrong, but I see no reason why ND needs to pay 7 figures like Michigan, etc. ND filled the roster gaps perfectly with RL, Jordan Clark, Collins, etc. The injury bug did ND in this year and it showed against OSU. The OSU D didn't stop ND, ND stopped ND. There will be offenses in the college game that are damn near unstoppable but you also have to score points.

It's my hope next year whomever gets the job at QB will be a more effective downfield passer. Be able to throw guys open with anticipation.

They aren't going to pay players that 1. Either can't get into school or don't care about school and 2. That aren't good cultural team fits

There's a group of players they simply aren't going to take

I would like to see one more interior DL unless they KNOW Onye is back. I would also like to see a DE for insurance if Traore/botelho are not 100%. WE need some doggs to get after the QB opening game vs Miami and I can't imagine botelho/traore are going to be 100% back and themselves by then. We know what a junior/burnham pass rush looks or doesn't look like.

Also, maybe look at TE.

We filled needs, but I’m not sure we upgraded at all. The two interior defensive linemen might just be depth guys behind Rubio, Onye, Hinish or Mukam. The receiver from Wisconsin seems to be a depth guy and the Virginia receiver has amazing size, but he was nowhere near a top portal receiver.

I have expectations for the safety from VT and Bama CB. I feel Smith could challenge Gray for a starting spot and Stroman might replace Watts, but I’m not sure he’s going to be more than a Rod Heard.

Notre Dame continues to do an amazing job filling holes in the portal. The only holes on this roster is interior defensive line and receiver. If Greathouse went down, could we replace him? Maybe Cam Williams steps up? What if we lose Rubio or Onye? Still some questions… this isn’t a national championship roster but I think we’re as good as a lock to make the playoffs.

This is where I think ND really needs to upgrade... the WRs were serviceable possession receivers, no "playmakers". Only problem is, you don't really find dynamic WRs in the portal.

Agree. Dynamic portal WR's go to the NFL.

Duce Robinson, Zachariah Branch and Eric Singleton are dynamic.

Bond and Stewart were in there last year. These guys are more than dynamic, the problem is that there is usually only 2 or 3 dudes.

Agreed. We've got the quantity of guys needed, but do we have the quality?

How do we know this? Greathouse looked elite in the natty..perhaps it was the refusal to throw down the field/RL limitations that the coaching staff wouldn’t let him throw past 10 yards. Mitchell, Greathouse, Faison, collins weren’t allowed to show their skill set

I will make any bet right now Fields is a get. Collins had 41 490 3tds I can honestly say he will have atleast 55 750 and 6tds..
That bet at least for me is tough to predict not having seen who will play QB.

I don't believe we're done-----or anyone's done.

You're going to see a ton of roster movement from everyone after spring ball and there will be a ton of guys jump into the portal.

Most of Ohio states money spent was retaining players

Dude, Malachi Fields looks like a playmaker. And the guy from Wisc had like 70 catches his junior, and then like 40 this last season.

But Fields is straight up impressive, just a big tank and pretty athletic. Here I'll link his highlight reel and you can see for yourself.

Let’s not forget that Notre Dame made it to the finals of the national championship, defeating three ranked teams along the way

It would be nice to see him be a huge red zone target plus some 50-50 balls.

Plus we more than showed capability at times with Greathouse and Faison to make big plays as well as Aeneas Williams. We just need that QB that can spot them quicker and RL wasn't that type of a QB. He was decent but not dominant in the passing game. Carr/Angeli or Minchey may be that guy that can bring equality in efficiency in run/pass game.

Yeah, he really looks good, I don't know why he's not going to the NFL, I wonder what his grade would be. Mid rounds I suppose. Maybe ND had to shell out a pretty penny to keep him in school. He's not a blazer who will 'take the top off' a defense, but I guess as a big target possession WR, with a pretty impressive and long highlight reel making all kinds of catches, he looks undeniably good.

I could be wrong, but hitting one big play doesn't show me that they are capable. Maybe it was on RL, but it just seemed a lot of times during the season WRs were not getting any separation. I think those guys are decent WRs and should get opportunities, but I think ND needs a guy that can consistently take the top off of the defense.
