The double safety blitz was a mistake, was supposed to be a single blitz leaving one safety back. If you watch the play the slot corner gave inside leverage away, meaning he expected inside help. No way they were both supposed to go. Someone was supposed to be in center field. Otherwise the corner plays that from the other side to force that play outside.

Yeah I read somewhere that it was a miscommunication and Mickey was supposed to have inside help. That sounds believable. Given the way Golden called the game, it's hard to believe he would do a double safety blitz on 3rd and 11.

I would agree that it should have been one safety on the blitz, the other one in coverage.
Did you also notice how far back the safeties were when they started to blitz? It took forever just to get to the LOS, let alone close to Stroud.
