Deon McIntosh Commits

Not a guru but McIntosh is a pretty good back from Florida. He is a 3* from with a decent offer list that isn't outstanding but is better then one from a player who is just a regional type prospect. As a back he is a significant contrast from Jones and will compliment that skill set. This means RB is probably closed and the staff didn't believe Stovall/Alloway were real possibilities.

I will check with Autry . He is the one that has the info...i am sure he will call me back on this and I will pass on the info.....Give me time I can't do everything that quick,,,,,

5'10" 175 -- reports are that he may be used in the slot as well as RB -- he better have some gitty up at that size

I watched junior film of MCINTOSH. He is very elusive and makes good cuts. My question is will this affect Alloway decision?. I wonder because Alloway wasn't too high on running back area and likes slot better. McIntosh seems like a good balance with Jones.

Another 3*... damn... like Adams (one of the best 5 true Frosh RBs in the country)
Or Eifert, or Nick Martin or Farley... In the past ten years we had two 5* RBs who didn't pan out... so why not, I trust our coaches.

Welcome Deon -- you have a year to figure out the academics! We will have a crowded backfield next year.

one of the recruiting writers said today that our irish will still take alloway and that coach Kelly has been telling him this weekend while on campus that he can come in and play next year and have a key role in the offense. the recruiting writer said that our irish are now looking to bring in a large class that is the reason why we still have room for alloway

I stand corrected, maybe RB class is not full. I still don't see Alloway leaving the wc but BK has closed on kids like him before.

Alloway was always going to be a "slot wr" type of player. This pretty much closes the door on Stovall, which looked to be trending away anyhow.

over on irishenvy, alot of people are saying they like DM's film better than Alloway anyhow.

The kid is 5'11" and has a recorded time of 4.47 in the forty. If he can run a legit 4.5, he fits Kelly's desire to add athleticism and versatility to tho team. He is listed at rb, but he may fit somewhere else better like CB.

Why is this guy not banned? He's only here to cause trouble and he's a total idiot.

Another Michigan Wal-Mart fan that has no life other than pathetic.

To paraphrase the great Jimmy Chitwood. Just one more thing, pump beef stays, I post, pump beef gets banned, I leave.

Not to take away from the new commit but I wonder which films they are comparing

A slower version of Amir Carlisle doesn't get me excited. Amir Carlisle hasn't done much on the field in his time at ND.

Amir isn't very elusive and he goes down on first contact. DM looks like he is both elusive and can run through contact. It would be nice if he also had Amir's speed but he just might be a better player as is.

Think Theo Riddick when he was at Notre Dame. Kenjon Barner when he was at Oregon or Steve Slaton when he was at West Virginia... McIntosh is in that mould. Does that mean he'll ever be as good as any of those guys? Nope. But the coaches like his raw talent and ND's staff are exceptional developers of talent. Especially because ND's model is to recruit 4-5 year players who are unselfish (there are obvious exceptions) and who will wait their turn and develop... Now we just need to keep some DE's around.

How come you have only 45 likes? The world is full of injustice !

Carlisle has had a coulple really good runs after the catch the last two weeks. He's been a good player for ND.

I agree and I didn't mean to imply that he wasn't a good player. He's made some clutch catches the last couple of seasons and he does have that top end speed. He also has his faults, however, and that is what I was pointing to. I think part of Amir's problem is 3 seasons ago BK really hyped him up as potentially being a game breaker. His first carry against Temple in 2013 went for 45 yards and I think most of us thought that was just a sign of things to come but he never really became that kind of player. I think maybe our expectations of him may have been too high. Regardless, he's played an important role in the offense and I appreciate all that he has given ND in his time here.
