1. Todd Orlando - Houston DC - Has had nothing but success at multiple stops. Currently 11th in country in yards per play. Odds low. Suspect he's a head coach next year.
2. Dave Aranda - LSU DC - Great history with two teams. Turnover causer. Currently 30th or so in yards per play. Just became available. Would he chance another hotseat coach?
3. Derek Mason - Vandy DC and Head Coach - Big Stanford resume. No success as head coach. Defense is struggling again this year, but was lights out as Stanford DC. Should be available. May not like perceived unstable coaching situation.
4. Mike Eklo - Wake Forest DC - always competitive and never has talent advantage. Top 50 in defense right now, but defense has been fantastic again. Gave up 600 yards to Indiana but picked off five passes. Baiting them into throwing ever down. Shut down run. Maybe best available target who would chance a hotseat coach.
5. Tom Allen - Indiana DC - Super positive coach. Indiana native. History of fixing terrible defenses. Fixed USF last year. Top 25 defense. Has taken Indiana from 110th to 39th this year. Biggest defensive turnaround in country. Would be a great hire, but seems very happy at Indiana. Creates ton of turnovers so defense is better than yards per play numbers.
