Great pick up! According to rivals the #100 ranked recruit in the 2017 class. 6'2" 225, so hes got the size. Lots of offers including LSU, Florida, Mich, and MSU.
yep he is a top 5 rated ILB by just about every recruiting service. great pickup for our irish as some thought that penn st might've been the leader for his services even though he was really high on our irish

yes it is DT Hinnish. nothing against the kid but I hope our irish don't except his verbal right away because he needs to go out and prove himself more in summer camps. all the big boys except our irish aren't even sniffing at him let alone offering and plus we have to try and work on trying to get Haskell flip first and try to land a top 12 rated DT from Virginia ho grew up an irish fan along with his family
i have 100% faith in the coaching staffs assessments. could care less who else is interested.
There is a fair amount of angst on the Penn State board about Adams committing. Makes me think we got a good one.
All the Big boys? Sheesh this guy has a pretty expansive offer list. Tennessee, Pitt, Penn St, Nebraska, Baylor, BC. This is the kind of kid that we stupidly turn away to BC and haunts us. I haven't watched a ton of film on the kid but if our staff wants him and his offer list is even somewhat legit, you take him. Plus I'm of the opinion you don't turn p5 d tackles away in hopes of getting elite guys at that spot. ND doesn't recruit those guys well enough and for depth alone, you let this kid commit. Incredible somebody could turn away a DT with that offer list and given our injury history and ability to recruit that position. Incredible.
I'm with you on this. Having lived through the wreckage of Ty Willingham's so called recruiting disaster and seeing what had to be cobbled together in 2007/08/and09 A bunch of three star upperclassmen would have been very welcome.

That's a good sign. Usually when they don't get a recruit they trot out comments like "He was never offered.", "He didn't qualify.", and "He wasn't really interested in PSU."
Ps fan here. They'll be shedding tears for a long time. I won't argue with the fact that they are the biggest joke in the big ten as of now and our coach may not make it for 3 more years
I normally agree with what you say, they have done a great job overall since Kelly has been head coach. The fact he has had terrible injuries, transfers, suspensions, and not 1 legit starting QB until now (hopefully) is a testament to how well all the coaches have done. Still as I say that I can't get past recruiting a 2 star LB or is he some type of special position player? I know this past year we had a 2 star linemen but he was actually a long snapper and one of the best in the country, makes a huge difference.
For any naysayers who have questions about Hinish and White,anytime players come from outstanding HS programs they are well coached. Usually good players and citizens too. Kudos to staff for great job.
If I may ask, who is the two star linebacker to whom you refer? Sorry first cup of coffee still in progress. After some research I guess it's the lb from St Thomas Aquinas in FLA.Somehow top program . two stars and offer list including Alabama. LSU etc. doesn't add up? Something is being missed here and it's probably by me not Saban or Kelly.[smile]

not all offers are 'committable'; we have seen that with ND offers also. offer lists really don't mean much under this context.
You realize he was offered by LSU, Michigan, and Ohio State, right? I believe they saw something similar to what our staff did.
I don't put too much on him being a two-star at this point. Sometimes these players don't go to all the camps and therefore don't get the exposure that others do. Plus, as their senior years are played out, they obtain that 3rd or even 4th star. Remember Claypool from this past recruiting cycle?
stars are overrated. staff evaluations are the only opinions that truly matter.

^ yep; then they wonder why the program has been in decline. There is a post here where it mentions PSU fans upset about ND getting a cpl of their guys. Of course, they are seeing that ND has focused on those recruits in the 2nd tier that has been the domain that PSU, Wisc, Iowa and teams such as those have recruited.
The young man being referenced by the troll above was #4 at his position and highly recruited by all measures. He will be an excellent addition to this class regardless of the opinion of an internet troll.
