You're missing out on some great stuff. I'm a big single malt fan, but the Scots don't have a monopoly. Yamazake is an excellent non peated single malt, and there are great Irish options.
American bourbon is in short supply for a reason as well, there are some excellent high quality options for a lot less $.
I'm partial to Noah's Mill and Rowan's Creek myself. It is not always as dry, but I've some fairly sweet Scotchs too. (Tamdhu's Distillers unfiltered edition is very malty, unfiltered and dark brown. Similar to bourbon.)
Plus, a very large percentage of Kentucky bourbon is actually made from Indiana corn, and a central Indiana contractors mash. So I'm "buying local" to save the environment........ (It's all about giving back, right?)
That being said, should your empty glass ever find its way to my table, we can break bread over some Oban. Hope you enjoy a Scotch or two today.
