On Demetris Robertson to ND. His recruitment continues to gain steam in Favor of ND. He cancelled his visit to BAMA this weekend. Apparently to take his SAT over again. Not sure if that's just a smoke screen or if he is actually retaking the test. The only place he would need to do that for is Stanford and from everything I have read they are out of the picture. I think ND lands both Kelly and DR on signing day. Any recent chatter about SAT's and twitter conversations between players at OU etc. to me seem nothing more than smoke screens. If i am wrong on both i will eat from the same batch of Crow that IIO has pledged to eat from.

That would be awesome. What a stable of young receivers Kelly is putting together! Fingers crossed.

Reloading....

Don't see how this is good news for ND. The only reason for Robertson to retake the SAT is to try to get into Stanford. His brother recently suggested the decision might come after NSD, which suggests waiting to see if he is accepted by Stanford.

Forgive my stupidity.... but his current SAT scores are not good enough
to get into Stanford, but they're good enough to get into Notre Dame??

Lots of things I have seen have all said Stanford is out. Again the SAT could be a smokescreen....And Yes believe it or not Stanford admissions might be a bit tougher on SAT scores.....again I dont believe Stanford has any chance to land him.

Stanford's QB graduated. ND has two experienced (and somewhat experienced) upper classmen competing for the job. If he wants the stage and the numbers to go to the NFL in three, this is a no-brainer. Hear me, D?

I agree if it's true he is retaking SAT. But may be a smoke screen. Even if true , 100 points is a lot to make up. Even if he gets his 100 points and he still has some hurdles to get accepted. So he will probably struggle at Stanford to maintain grades. We have seen what a borderline acceptance has done at ND? No good and usually transfer because of issues with grades. Go Irish hope we land him but at same time hope he can maintain grades at ND also

Yes. We will take more risk on grades and SATs than Stanford will. Not down to NCAA minimum levels, but lower than Stanford. It's on core curriculum where we don't bend for athletes, and that's usually the stumbling block for a kid we cannot go after.

Stanford is a bit schizophrenic in this regard. Harder to get into, but not at all sure it is harder to maintain grades. Only have anecdotal facts to suggest this, but the son of a good friend barely got into Stanford, started at TE, and told me he had a sports related major and very easy classes, that many football players took. Don't think flunking out is a concern for athletes once they are admitted.

It takes an effort for ND guys to flunk out too. We provide lots of assistance to help athletes make grades....

This is a trend at many schools, especially those interested in the rankings such as US News; retention rates are a somewhat important variable in the ranking score.

We're straying off point. My post about Stanford having easy majors and easy classes, was not to compare them to ND. Rather, I was responding to 343.... post suggesting that Robertson would be a borderline student if accepted and more likely to struggle and transfer for academic reasons, etc... I hope the SAT reason for cancelling his visit to Alabama this Saturday is in fact a smoke screen as a few have suggested here, but I remain concerned that we are plan B if he cannot get into Stanford. Wish we were plan A.

Do you even have to take the SATs for ND? I know back in my day, you only needed an ACT score. I didn't need an SAT score to apply to ND, UM, MSU, etc.

ACT is more linked to Midwest with more testing dates/locations. East coast more with the SAT and more testing dates/locations.

Not harder because getting in the real hurdle. Just like at ND.

Well, I'm asking if ND still doesn't require the SAT because a poster assumed his SAT score was good enough for ND, but not Stanford. Who knows? Maybe he got a good ACT score? I know when I took the ACT, I was extremely sick.

I think after his OV wiltfong had him cb'd to nd before changing it to "fuzzy" a couple months later. for the record, tom loy is more generous and picks based on his prediction where they will go long term. wiltfong puts in a cb when he hears something that leads him to believe its more than likely going that way. I don't follow all his picks, but on ND recruits, its dang near 100% that he's right. I always say, if wiltfong puts in a cb, I feel really good cause he usually has very solid info before doing it.

Kelly is doing 2 in home visits to 2 5* prospects (hope he has Sanford along.

ND could concievably have 5 defacto 5's Hayes DR CK, TK and s/b LE;
at any rate DR and CK with Jones would get ND over the RR threshhold of 3.66

As is often said with respect to Harvard College "The only difficult test you need to pass at Harvard is the paternity test"![smile] Great Graduation rate there!
