1. The defense improved in 2015 but they would fall asleep in games after the offense would get ahead /
Examples were the Georgia Tech game when they were up 30 to 7 late and ended up winning 30 to 22.
Or the Pitt game when they were up 42 to 14 and ended up winning 42 to 30.
Or the UMASS game when they played poorly early and then shut them down in the second half.

2. The Offense was much improved but they also helped other teams stay in games or beat them because of dumb turnovers especially in the redzone.

ND should of blown USC out of the game early butt dumb turnovers near the goal line kept USC in the game until the Irish through some Will Fuller haymakers at them.

ND should have blown out BC by 30 or so if it were not for all the turnovers at the goal line.

ND should have beat Clemson in Death Valley if it were not for all the turnovers and same thing with Stanford.

The Irish were down 28 to 0 to Ohio State before they woke up to get it 28 to 21. The Irish were outmanned in that game with all the injuries and overall depth and talent of the Buckeyes but they did battle back.

The good news for the Irish is Kizer and Malik are seasoned upperclassman and should definately cut the turnovers down in half at least. (Malik has 0 turnovers in the games he has played) .
Josh Adams and Dexter Williams are no longer freshman and should be stronger and less prone to fumble.
And T. Folston rarely if ever fumbles. The Irish will not lose if they hold on to the ball.

The defense should be more consistent since they have been in BVG's system for three years now.
and they have a ton of upperclassman on the dline and linebacker just like 2012.

Odds are in our favor that the injury bug will be way down this year.

RUN THE DAMN BALL MORE THIS YEAR !!

Bodi...can't argue about needed consistency, especially on defense. However, from my perspective, the defense was largely consistently mediocre. Not armed with stats to back up my view, just remembering a frustrating season where our corners played off their guys ten plus yards all game long; Our secondary never turning in time to play the ball; poor fundamental tackling by way too many players; lack of a meaningful pass rush, etc... Others argue we don't have the kind of talent needed to compete on defense, but I disagree. We may not have a plethora of elite five star kids, but we have quality and depth, and this needs to be the year that BVG's complicated schemes deliver on the promise of fundamentally sound aggressive disruptive defensive football, and consistently as you suggest.
