While he bears all responsibility for the team this year, I'm not entirely ready to write him off...mostly because he's coming back whether I like it or not. So, let's look a look at what he can do in '17.
  • His staff is solid at recruiting - it will be a miracle if he holds this class together and adds some solid talent.
  • He has made necessary changes on the staff with BVG and Booker...these changes usually come in 3's so, by default, losing Sanford counts. I liked Sanford but the QBs regressed under him so...
  • He brings back a solid core of coaches that have been with him for years. If they are not giving up on him then neither am I.
  • He's the only coach since Lou to lead ND to a 12-0 season.
  • ND should bring back a solid O-line which is always a positive.
Please add to the list or call me out for what I have written. Either way, we have to accept he will be coaching next year and deserves our support.

Great post IG ! This year sucked but with BVG gone and all the experience the Young players got-- next year should be a whole different story !
Kelly is going to be back so we will have to deal with it !
Go IRISH !!

0-0 in '12
0-1 with bowl

You'll never hate on me, cgvr, so I'll call that a relatively classy post.
We have a wonderful football program and all the changes have been magnificent. We have the best smoke, tunnel lights and sideline dancing. As a strategist kelly makes Patton look like Pre Wee Herman on a bike.
Who would have thought that when the going got tough imitating the Sprockets would be so effective?
Go Irish!!!!!

Bodi, do you think kelly should unleash this diabolical campaign?
When signalling plays our guys in red hats could hold up signs/pictures of joy behar, rosie o'donnell, whoopie.....
I think that may work well.
Perhaps one of cher's tattooed rear end would work too....

He's coming back because no one else wants him and ND wants to save $. What's that tell you? Next year will be a disaster.

How would you like going in heavy on Rosie and Whoopie with nothing but a jar of Jiff crunchy peanut butter?
That one is easy. If you threw it to towards them rosie would fight whoopie and you could escape. PS. perse will share personal experience and be arguing that they like creamy shortly.

With an inexperienced QB taking over, maybe a heavy reliance on a power running game.

This staff is average at best. Sure he went 12-0 and then got destroyed in the NCG, if that's a feather in his cap why don't we go and hire Gene Chizik at least he won a NC.

QB's have regressed under Kelly, not Sanford he's only been here a couple of year. Kelly has been responsible for coaching the starting QBs and Sanford the backups. Crist, Golson, Rees and now Kizer, hard to blame Sanford when he wasn't even here for most of those QBs.

I like the conversation in this thread. I am done with thinking BK is ND's savior. However, I am not ready to count him out, either. His seat is 'warm' going into '17 regardless of the upheaval in staff, transfers, and decommits (is that even a word).
