Question coming from someone who is not well educated in defensive scheme or philosophy...honest question and not asking you to be critical at all per se.
You have mentioned several times how you differ from Van Gorder in your general defensive outlook. Would be very interested to know how you, if you were building Notre Dame's defense this season, would construct it position by position. If you could break it down and explain from D-line, to linebacker, to secondary - where you would place each player based on skill set, of each player, and explain why putting them there would maximize the individual player's talents and benefit the entire defense. Would probably be an exhausting post for you to go into great detail but I think it would be extremely informative.
Would help understand the game better from my standpoint anyway. Would be really interesting to elaborate on what particular skill sets maximize the usefulness of each particular position on the field. If you wanted to tackle it.
