Outside of a getting a big defensive tackle, I really think ND has a stellar 2016 recruiting class. A lot of very good athletes and although some of them are raw (Jalen Elliot, Chase Claypool, Julian Okwara, Kevin Stepherson, etc, etc) this coaching staff has proven that one their greatest strength is player development.

With roughly 4-5 spots left in the recruiting class, ND has the chance to cement this class as one of Brian Kelly's two best during his tenure.

Gotta get...

LB: Jonathan Jones
DB: Troy Pride Jr.
WR: Javon McKinley

Then cross your fingers for...

LB: Caleb Kelly or Jeffrey McColough
DB: Damar Hamlin or Jordan Fuller

ND will finish with a consensus top 5-8 class if they land 5 of those players.

Pride Jr. and McKinley seem to be locked as Irish. I'm not really buying the Caleb Kelly hype. I think he is locked on to Oklahoma, but has to have a number two just to say he tried other places. The other names on this list I'm not 100% percent are going to be Irish either. What about Damion Alloway? I'd really like to see him Irish, and we lead his crystal ball by a lot.

Bummed we couldn't get an elite DT. Afraid that will hurt us in the future. We supposedly are in the mix for R. Gary, but from what I've read it's the mom that has interest and not Gary.

I think we end up with McKinley, Hamlin, Jones, and one of Kelly or McCullough. With an outside shot on Demetrius Robertson.

We still don't have that game breaking player on offense. I was really hoping for one of Melquise Stovall or Eljiah Holyfield, but interest waned down the stretch, which surprised me, because who wouldn't want to play RB in Kelly's offense right now? Especially with the stellar recruiting of OL and TEs. Jones and McIntosh should be solid though. They look like the next Robert Hughes and Theo Riddick.

There's a lot to like to about this class and it doesn't appear that we'll have to ask them to play immediately, with the exception of Hayes. This class will have the luxury of redshirting, playing special teams, and developing themselves mentally and physically before becoming starters.

Anything is possible, but from what I've read we're out of it with Alloway.

IIO is exactly correct in my opinion. We will have a great finish if we land the three IIO's suggests as must gets, and one each of the additional LBs and DBs listed. Thought we would have a good shot at Love, but that's apparently not in the cards. Not unusual to get disappointed by late committing recruits we all think we are in the running for, and hope this year we are singing a different tune.

We have depth and bodies at DT they are just still developing. We can miss on DT this year and be fine.

at this point, not a fan of adding Alloway; he would be a roster redundancy. But, that would not be the case for next years class.

Alloway would be a nice addition to the class, but he isn't the type of player that I feel helps "make-or-break" a class. A lot of people like his versatility, but I don't think he's tall enough to be a really good corner if he isn't needed on offence (which he isn't at this point given ND's talent at WR). If Alloway was 5'11-6'0, like KeiVarae Russell, I'd love to have him for his versatility, but he's listed at 5'10 and I've heard that he's more like 5'8.5 (maybe 5'9) and he doesn't possess the ball skills or breaking speed of a Shaun Crawford, IMO.

If ND doesn't land Mckinley, or has an extra spot because they land only Jones and Pride (of the players) I listed, I'd take a player like Alloway gladly, but if ND can get the guys I listed (even 4 of them), I'd be surprised if Alloway is a take.

Just getting those 1st 3 would be a good haul. The problem is we see names w/ high rankings giving ND some love, so if does indeed end up those 3 and maybe a "plan B" type of guy I think I and many would be disappointed.

BTW fellas read yesterday where Coach Kelly inferred that Miles Boykin will be a super and Watkins will be the real deal .

Boykin
St Brown
Hunter
Sanders
Claypool
McKinley

should suffice as stocking stuffers for the holiday season

If Alloway is "out" at ND, then why is still the favorite by a long shot on 247. Wouldn't they update that by now? I'm pretty confident a guy a couple days ago put his crystal ball in for ND.

every national writer is still favoring ND w/ Alloway. For me Alloway is def a take if we have the room but only if we do. He's a good player, but he's not special. With a lot of the guys on the board he's not a priority but would be a nice addition should we get him in the end. I wonder if that's part of the reason his recruitment has dragged out. I will say though that he is visiting UCLA in Jan and a lot of those CB's could change at that point.

But it looks like it will go something like this:
21) Pride
22) Jones
23) McKinley

At this point J. McCollough, C. Kelly, D. Robertson(if he makes another visit) and probably D. Hamlin are going to get priority status with being able to commit.

After those 4 guys like Jonah Morris, Donnie Corley, Velus Jones, Alloway and Fuller will still be recruited but have to wait if they want to commit.

The good news is the priority guys are elite and the rest aren't just "plan B" guys but are very solid prospects. ND is in a good place right now.

That makes me laugh because some PSU fans claim Gary's mom prefers him to go to Happy Valley. Having followed his recruitment I can certainly say she takes the high road when talking on the record. She "loves" every school and thinks it would be perfect for her son. There is nothing wrong with her saying that because it is not like there is only one school that is good and every other one is evil (despite what some fans think). But "off the record" she is a bit...well less concerned with being kind...her only interest in ND was making sure his son looked into it because she wants him to explore his options...

I only bring this up because of some stuff said about Jones parents on this board...or I mean just about every kid who didn't pick ND..."parents wanted it but the kid didn't"...really...I mean really...

When it comes to parents i think the good ones have raised their kids to at least look at schools like ND or Stanford thinking of life after fb. That's not saying they are bad parents for wanting their kid to go to state, stay close to home or going to their AM.The opposite is true. But, their are plenty of parents or guadians that are looking to get something for themselves. Also hs coaches using their players to advance their careers. They are pond scum.

There is plenty of pond scum among the college coaching ranks, we are lucky to have a good man like CBK.

Jimbo Fisher?

#1. I do not think he is in the same league as a coach where you would put the top three, Saban, CB Kelly and Meyer.

#2. Jimbo is allowed to recruit players Notre Dame is unable to offer.

#3. Notre dame has an academic standing and reality that Jimbo has never been held to.

#4. The ND coach is required to meet with the national press representing ND in a understandable and eloquent fashion. I have never seen Jimbo master the art of understandable communication.

Jimbo should stay at FSU, at least until the Feds determine what they have in store for them.

Merry Christmas!

This is good summary for out resident Kelly haters to read. you can substitute fisher for any coach

No, I don't think you can substitute Fisher for "any" coach, but unfortunately he is all too much like "many" coaches yet with he at the bottom rung.

Name a D1 coach who has been allowed to recruit and play players with more academic and off the field issues while an administration covers for him? This is exactly why the Feds have converged on North Florida.

See what I mean?

You do not understand my point and think its about your opinion of FSU.

any program would be very fortunate to have jimbo as their coach. a top tier guy for certain. just a notch below coach saban and urban.

Good lord people, can we just talk about ND recruiting and quit having a p*ssing fight about Jimbo and FSU? It has completely ruined this thread.

Well here we go again.. I know I'm wasting my time because you NEVER respond to any challenge but provide a link to any player that has ever played under Jimbo who didn't meet the NCAA academic qualifications for eligibility. Do the same for off-the-field transgressions. Once you do that then and only then can you be taken seriously and not thought of by the masses as an idiot.

And while you are at it name one time FSU has covered for any coach doing any of the above.

You do know the FEDS converged on ND shortly after ND failed to investigate properly Shembo ......hypocrite? ND changed their policies twice regarding University sexual assault protocols as a result. Standard procedure and it happens at dozens of universities every year.
You two should join the nitwit board hosted by Turnip/turnover Brain. Tired of reading your drivel.

You are a Loser. Get lost.
Considering the source I'll take that as either poor judgement on your part, a mirrored reflection or a sarcastic compliment. In any case ........

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and joyous holiday. Hope Santa brings you some new pom poms.

See you in 2016.

Just like a noletroll to bring such filth into a thread at Christmas time. Classless and disgusting at the same time.

Strongly suggest you re-visit the thread and see who brought such filth into the thread at Christmas time. You will see that the classless and disgusting are all proclaimed ND fans. Mr. Pom Pom and argusman. Not any noletrolls.

Bod who started the classlessness by calling Jimbo Fisher "pond scum" which of course opened the door for your resident lunatic, argusman (bigfella), to jump into the fray and start boring us by making FSU stuff up that is 100% untrue. How different. All I did was attempt to right the ship by challenging argusman to provide any proof to support his pathological lies. As is the usual norm .... he couldn't do that so he simply disappeared hoping to avoid the routine beat down.

Bod and argus both started this "classless and disgusting" hijack ....... not me. I have never brought FSU up at this site one time in the last nine years. I simply respond to those obsessed with FSU.

A-nole, didn't you say you had our one poster on ignore, yet here you are continually acting like a little b.itch and continuing your obsession with out board...do you monitor every rivals board 24/7 looking for anything anyone posts about fsu? Seems like it....ffs, get a life, seriously. For what its worth, we all know winston is a pig, a thief, a rapist. So instead of giving yourself a stroke trying to convince everyone otherwise, and that fsu has not had cheating scandals, that it is in your words "clean", just live with it. Everyone knows fsu is a dirty program, and would fit in the sec in that regard, so just deal with it.

PS Merry Christmas to all normal FSU fans out there.

If Watkins is the real deal why did Hunter Jr have to play Nickel and Butler beat him out at CB when Russell went down. I think that remains to be see. As for Boykin, My sons friend is a student at ND and he is good friends with Boykin. The kid says that everyone think he is going to be a star receiver. An Anquan Boldin type of receiver.
