Any chance we can lock him up for about the next 10+ years?

Other than Venables, I will take our DC Clark Lea over all them, and that includes Elko.

I am scared to think what would Kelly be without him.

Saban loses OC and DC every year. If Kelly lost Clark Lea, we would go back to 8-4 at best, even with top ten talent.

Thoughts?

I think Lea is great too, but I think ND would probably be okay. We had good defenses under Diaco and the one year under Elko. Only BVG really screwed up on that side of the ball under Kelly. Would love to see Lea stick around for a while though.

Especially since the defense is really now stocked with players that fit the type he is looking for. He brings talent and consistency, can't ask for much more than that.

Clark Lea said he would stay at ND when Elko left for A&M even if he wasn't made defensive coordinator. He said ND was his dream destination. ND won't have to do a lot to keep him.

How about we let the entire year unfold before we go kissing ass avd writing Charlie Weis contracts.

We THINK the UGA was a great showing but it's way too early to know that.

UGA played one legit team. Us.

If a few teams hold UGA to under 20 points and or get some wins against them suddenly our defense looks a bit pedestrian.

When every team is at the 6th game mark you know a lot more than today.

We might finish at 8-4 anyways. You never know.

That's three more losses
@Stanford (bk never won there)
@michigan (bk never won there)

8-4 is still a very real possibility.

Chill on getting all giddy contract wise until after the season

Do you even like Notre Dame? You are always spouting negative nonsense. Georgia is full of NFL prospects. And now Brian Kelly has the Irish stocked with NFL prospects. The Irish have won 10 or more games 3 out of 4 years and are going to make it 4 out of 5. Clemson had to get a few ten win seasons under their belt before they became elite.

anyone that has not seen the upgrade the last 3 years, cannot see the upgrade!

Lea is a beast, one of the best young d coordinators in the country.

He really is. It won’t be long before people get in his ear, about those limitations at ND and how he needs to move on to advance his career.
Then he moves for lottsa money and then we trash him for being another mercenary! a cyclical experience!

I am glad Coach Lea is at ND also, but, I do not take to heart what a coach says now and what he actually does in the future. Urban Meyer also said ND was his dream job.......until it wasn't. Elko agreed in principle.....until he didn't. Urban actually took his Bowling Green team to the ND campus just to see and feel what it's like. BK went fishing too a few years ago. Many do. It's a business. It's career advancement and financial security. ND tried their best to keep Elko. It did no good. Enjoy and appreciate Coach Lea while the program has him, for ever how long the program has him.

The difference is that Venables WANTS to stay at Clemson -- where as most DC's, they want to be head coaches at some point...
