Coach Lea has shown us he can adjust after halftimes to offences of various types. I'm not sure that the dude[Elko] that bailed for A&M adjusted that well.I like our defensive coaches all around. I think Lea is gonna win players and recruits hearts and minds.ND will only get better with him as DC. Kelly gets a lot of flack sometimes but this has turned out a great choice.I hope ND can keep these defensive coaches intact for a number of years. Not that I don't want them to become head coaches but PAY them well at ND to stay,.For the love of IRISH beat[pummel] Pitt!!!!

I like how the he's coached the defense the first half of the year. Hasn't been overly reliant on blitzing early to get pressure and the dline has been getting home in the second half. If they keep it up I'm sure they'll probably be looking at his compensation this winter.

The biggest difference I've seen in the defense since the arrival of Elko / Lea is pass break-ups. There have been games over the last year and a half where I thought our DB's were playing Bama-esque.

I love our pass-rush this year, but, I still feel our defensive line is under-developed compared to a line like Bama, Georgia, or Clemson. A majority of the guys on their line look like professionals, like they live in the gym and at the training table.

And yes, I hope ND also decides to pay our DC/OC appropriately for a sustained undefeated run over the next 2.5 yrs.

He’s only doing well becaus of what he inherited. Let’s see how he does with his own recruits.

For the first time in years, our DBs are physically challenging the receiver for the ball. They are also closing a lot faster when they play zone, reducing gains after the catch.

In past players were not physically capable due to poor training techniques. Regardless of what the coaching would be they were not conditioned and could not physically respond. Balis has changed all that.

its easier to look good when you have 4 guys on the Dline like Tillery, Hayes, Okwara and Kareem. That said I think we will continue recruiting well at that position going forward so I dont expect to see a huge drop off in a couple of years.
