CJ Williams

Both the NCAA and USC require progress towards a major.

Willaims is good, we just have a really good WR room. The even might be more quality WR leaving SC through the portal.
Williams is good, and you have a GREAT WR room. Beach, pls clarify. Wouldn’t taking gen Ed classes the first semester represent progress towards a major If the major requires these?

Yes, in every school that I know of you complete general education classes and then more specific classes toward you major. related classes. This is considered progress toward your major. the only point I was trying to make is that no one can take just fringe classes.

He won't come to ND. Bad fit. He doesn't possess the cahones. Rees and Freeman are annoying me with these pointless visits to turds like Peyton Bowen and bringing in a clown like CJ Williams to visit.

Not aware of any behavior to suggest Williams is a clown or a bad fit. Sounds as though your perspective is reflexive to his de commitment from ND. We all need to keep this in context. Our receiver coach was Del, who reportedly neglected Williams and took his commitment for granted. Williams expressed concern over our passing game and the heavy reliance on Mayer and Kyren. And of course, BK had just left in a poor way. All legitimate concerns for a highly sought after HS recruit. We now have a more likable head coach, a seemingly excellent receivers coach, incoming QBs in Hartman and Minchey and Carr along with Buchner, and an OC in Rees who is selling that our passing offense will Dramatically improve with the improved QB situation. Totally legit to pursue him, and equally legit for him to have renewed interest.

Shawn needs to be kicked off IB. The guy is weird. He is always a little sus but he was apparently acting up about CJ Williams and saying some inappropriate things for an old man. He’s been sus to me for a while and has said some things that make me shake my head. This one was just another example of poor behavior on his part. He and Malik are a joke and make ND look bad imo. It’s one thing to be a shit talker on a forum or social media but he’s in a media position and has apparent credentials. He doesn’t act or respect the role.
You need to stop posting and get help
Shawn is very good

I think Bryant and now Ford are better. Not even close. Both in the portal.

This kid was not an immediate impact player. He may have been a weapon for Minchey or Carr someday but the kid burned us once. We should never go after those kids again unless they have very serious regrets. I am happy with our 2023 receivers and think Flores and Kaleb Smith the younger will be good. I would much rather see the staff target more Kaleb Smith the elders as we only have the superstar Sam Hartman for 1 year. I want to be in the playoffs in 2023. We need some DE talent and maybe another threat at receiver. If Braylon James, Merriweather, Greathouse, Flores emerge all the better. I want 1 more stud grad transfer at receiver.

You seem to be confusing his talent with your disappointment that he did not follow through on his commitment to ND. Those are two very different things. It is fine is you think ND should not have gone after him because he changed his mind, but the change doesn't make him a worse player.

I didn’t want him when people thought he was going to come to ND. There’s a difference between me and people disappointed. I didn’t waver. He’s not good enough to start at ND.

OK, But I personally thought your wr's were weak last year.
Not great production but that wasn’t on them. Kaleb Williams, Jayden Thomas, Tobias Merriweather, *Styles, and Colzie are all better than him. I expect Flores, James, Greathouse, and Kaleb Smith 2 to be really good. I think CJ Williams was not going to play much. All of these receivers are very talented and with Sam Hartman they will look like a totally different crew. Drew Pyne was extremely bad and people don’t understand just how bad he really was. He may have caught a couple passes in the slot but I honestly think his influence would’ve been a non factor. I want experience. Hartman is a 1 year wonder. Our ‘24 talent at WR will be off the chain. He might never have played much. He made a good choice. He will catch passes at Wisconsin and be featured a lot in their weak schedule.

Thanks for the info. I certainly think Greathouse will be very good.

Kaleb smith you mean…. I disagree on colzie. He had a few good big catches this year but I’m not sold on him yet.

I think cj williams would have played a bit last year, at least more than colzie and Tobias, but I’m not sure how high his ceiling is. For example, Tobias ceiling much higher.

Based on Colzie’s limited play the season before last, I thought he was a complete bust. I thought he was markedly improved last season, in all aspects. He looked physically nature and stronger, his route running looked much improved, and he showed good hands, and the ability to make catches on critical downs, etc…. Not a huge body of work, but encouraging. Not sure of his ceiling as well, but I think he’ll need to show another significant step up if he’s going to be a major contributor. I’m pretty optimistic about our passing game next season as I think we have a really strong core with returning receivers, our transfer get in Kaleb, and the potential of a really strong freshman class. Not to mention a QB that can fling it around.

I too am a little bullish on our passing game next year but I just don't see it with colzie, other than his hands were reliable over the middle finding open spot in zone and he made a really good TD catch @ USC. But he followed that up with a dud game vs south carolina.

We need tobias to develop and I think Kaleb Smith comes in and immediately takes all or the majority of colzie snaps. I assume the reason they pushed hard for a WR like kaleb smith is knowing it's not Colzie. Don't know that factually obviously, but that's what my eyes tell me.
