Coach Kelly has said before that CJ Prosise has elite speed for a running back. (We got a glimpse of that last year during the LSU game). In yesterdays press conference he said that Josh Adams has elite speed. We got a glimpse of that yesterday with Josh Adams bursting through holes for a 15 and 25 yard TD run.

Gentlemen, I say to you that Adams and Prosise will be a dynamic rushing tandem behind a Great offensive line this year. Better than Folston/ Bryant. Better than Riddick/ Wood.

And don't forget what a dynamic runner Malik is. And Dexter Williams has a high ceiling. And Tori Hunter and Amir C and CJ Sanders have speed for a few jet sweeps.

And our short passing game to great speed players like Will Fuller are basically quick hitting runs,.

*** Many teams have true freshman running backs that have great seasons.

NEXT MAN IN!!! While I truly miss TAREAN....I agree that this offense has enough STARS to not miss a beat. Only turnovers could stop us. Or losing MZ.

BEAT the cavaliers!!!

It's not about ability . I think Saturday night Folston went down early and that held back the playbook . it's about getting more reps in practice now for Adams and Williams. IMO Williams is the best of all 3 but lack the preseason reps / knowledge of the offense to get more minutes. He carried the ball 7 times in garbage time and the entire defense knew he was getting the ball. He made guys miss inside when he was able to. This late recruit was huge now considering the losses. I am interested to see how CJ Sanders is going to get involved offensively as the season goes on.

I will be interested to see the difference with a full week of game planning without Folston. I really hate to see him go down, but if you are going to lose a key player, I would guess losing them early is better, to give the other players time to develop and gain experience as the season goes on. I think with our line, average running backs would look good. Hopefully these backs continue to improve and burst through to the second level.

It's tough luck that ND's depth in key areas (DT/RB) is being challenged so early in the season. But, depth is the mark of elite/championship teams. Heck, OSU started a third-string QB for the CCG and playoffs and won - that's incredible depth.

Of course I understand the need for coaching and grasping the playbook.....BUT IMO running back is the most pure natural ability position on any team. Give a GREAT RB the ball and he will gain yards. CJ, Josh, Dexter & Justin need to RUN TO DAYLIGHT!!!

Don't put Prosise and Adams at the same level as Folston ,just yet .In Adams 2 touchdown runs ,he wasn't even touched ,and Prosise has elite speed ,yes. But both have yet to prove they can take hits and break tackles ,like Folston. Taking hits and breaking tackles running straight ahead up the middle are very important in any run attack . Folston is a proven running back .

Adams made a great stop move, to get past a defender, then twisted his body to get into the endzone. Kelly seems high on him. CJ runs strong. Doesn't go down with first hit much. At least he didn't Saturday night.

Lets remember that people on this site were saying Folston was the best ND back since J Jones. It is a big loss, that guy had some very impressive runs last year... He was to be our workhorse...

I hope the other guys pick up the scheme, we have talent but no experience.

Really want to see Prosise and Adams break tackles at line of scrimmage . Just can't keep going with those end runs.

TF is a flat out stud. His absence will be missed. CJ and Adams will be fine, but let's not spin it: losing TF hurts. The guy has been a rock for 2 seasons.

No question we will miss Tarean. However our glass is more than 3/4 full.......both frosh appear to have breakaway speed!!! Just get them a big hole OL!!!

Can't always equate great backs with speed only .
Another point Folston is a more powerful back than either Prosise or Adams and that will definitely be missed .
Also , if we can't successfully sustain a run game up the middle and depend on end runs ,opposing teams will pick up on this .
Prosise has to go back to his high school days as a runner ,getting back in the groove of running the ball 20 -25 times .

Adams and Prosise definitely not on the same level as Folston who is considered to be the best running back since J.Jones.

Not sure about Folston being more powerful runner than Prosise but he needs to prove he can be the number 1 guy.

Yea i agreed with most everything I read... except Folston being more powerful than the other backs. I might agree more powerful than Adams and all the other backups but Prosise looks to be a machine when it comes to strength and breaking tackles. I don't think I seem him carry the ball much at all against Texas where one defender brought him down. He was dragging 2-3 defenders and moving a pile downhill with the help of his line. Yea i agree he's not Derrick Henry or Leonard Fournette strong....buts he still quite the physical specimen. Folston is great and very tough to bring down but I also would agree he too isn't the physical back of the likes that I mentioned in Henry and Fournette. His intelligence in the ND offense plus his toughness is where Folstons skills really come into play and will be missed.

give me an average back and a great o line over a great back and an average o line anyday. running is the easiest position to fill.

agreed. it always hurts when you lose talent but I'd rather lose a good running back than a good player at another spot.

If Zaire had went out........would we be talking about how Folston would carry the team without him? Not that he doesn't possess the ability to take on a load.....but without Zaire or someone like Jaylon or Shumate were in far worse shape than losing a RB like Folston. Again I'm not degrading what Folston brings to the team at all.
